Just put it on as nothing else is on

Not sure it's my cup of tea though

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 06/04/2015 21:51

I'm watching it. I don't live far away and remember when it happened. A friend of mine lived in Littlethorpe and was tested, along with most of the male population. It was a very scary time.

Missymoomoo1979 · 06/04/2015 22:06

I'm watching. Finding it very interesting.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/04/2015 22:07

I think it's very well acted. Really enjoying it.

Tutt · 06/04/2015 22:09

I'm watching as I read the book a few years back.

Missymoomoo1979 · 06/04/2015 22:09

Me too Laurie. It's amazing how far everything has come since.

LaurieFairyCake · 06/04/2015 22:11

I also cried when he got the Dna Blush Its such a big deal, what a breakthrough

mayfridaycomequickly · 06/04/2015 22:12

I'm watching - hooked already. Don't know the true story though.

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 06/04/2015 22:18

Alec Jeffries is a nice guy,my sister used to teach dance to his Dd.Very unassuming.

Missymoomoo1979 · 06/04/2015 22:19

I didn't cry ha. Is it just on tonight?

MoreBeta · 06/04/2015 22:26

Fantastic stuff. I don't normally watch TV drama but this is very close to my heart.

I was working in he biochemistry labs at Oxford university at the time this drama is based in 1984 exactly where Prof Jeffries trained.

I was a Masters student running DNA sequences exactly like those in this programme. All the equipment, the gels, the black and white stripes on he films, trying to avoid getting irradiated. Its very very accurate and brilliant work by he drama makers.

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 06/04/2015 23:21

I really enjoyed it. The only thing that annoyed me was the voice of the mother of the first girl. I couldn't understand a word she said she muttered it all.

Akire · 06/04/2015 23:46

It wasn't bad, it's amazing how far things have come that even in the eighties you could rape someone with no condom and not be worried in the slightest about being caught.

TheFnozwhowasmirage · 07/04/2015 21:55

I found the accents annoying, they all sounded like Brummies. No one from Leicester sounds like that, they don't have an accent, just a particular way of speaking. Otherwise it was very good.

HappenstanceMarmite · 07/04/2015 21:57

Anyone know when it's on again? Is it a two parter?

ButterflyUpSoHigh · 08/04/2015 09:48

Second part on Monday.

HappenstanceMarmite · 08/04/2015 14:33

Thanks Butterfly Smile

Jacana · 08/04/2015 22:37

Wow! I've just watched it. Absolutely blown away by the scientific discovery. I'd never heard of either murders so I'm left until Monday for the resolution. Brilliant acting, too. So that's my next Monay's TV viewing sorted.Star

Its interesting how the discover of DNA code changed how rape defendants act. I guess in the old days a man would just say that it wasn't him / he wasn't there. Nowadays it would be obvious the man was there, as his DNA is there, so the victim is portrayed as a slag who wanted it anyway.
