Mad Men - The End - What do you think will happen?

I know the final episodes of Mad Men are due to air in a few days. I don't have Sky so will have to catch up elsewhere AAAGH, but can't wait to see how Don and the others end up. I just hope Matthew Weiner doesn't make the ending too bleak.

So ladies, here's your starter for 10...what do you think will happen....

I think Don will sink lower and lower till a final moment of redemption and happiness. Betty will turn into Nancy Reagan, Sally will become Don's only true "friend". Joan and Peggy will take over the agency and rule the world. Sterling will drift off into disreputable old age.

Thoughts? As serious or speculative as you like.

I don't know. I'm too busy avoiding spoilers. Cannot believe they aren't showing it here until Thursday. It's unbelievable.

IdaBlankenship · 06/04/2015 19:13

Woop woop! I can't wait!
I think it would be nice if Don, Pete, Peggy, Roger and maybe Joan (if she can shift that chip on her shoulder about Don) start their own company. That scene with Don, Pete and Peggy in the diner at the end of last season was lovely.
Don and Megan have to split up surely? Betty will continue to be icy and fabulous. I guess it is too much to hope, that Pete will stop being so Pete-like and sweep Peggy off her feet? Although, I would quite like to see Rizzo with his epic beard and Peggy get together.
I'm sure there will be plenty of angst, but I am holding out for a happy ending

mateysmum · 06/04/2015 20:18

Yes yes to the happy ending, but happy or sad I'm sure it will be intriguing and thought provoking. That Don Draper pitch on the Kodak carousel is amazing so I hope the finale matches up.
Not sure about Pete. He doesn't deserve Peggy, she's so much brighter than him.

Shame about Jon Hamm ending up in rehab. It's all that method acting!

I can't wait but I'm avoiding facebook.mits taunting me with spoilers.

IdaBlankenship · 07/04/2015 08:34

Pete definitely does not deserve Peggy, but..but.. they have a lovely chemistry together and Pete does have occasional flashes of real warmth and compassion.

ElizabethHoover · 07/04/2015 08:36

Adore Hamm. Even in kimmy schmidt

hackmum · 07/04/2015 17:16

We don't have Sky, so will have to wait for the DVD, sadly. I already feel it's been ages since the last one (16 months in fact - I watched the series 6 DVD over Christmas 2013).

From the first series, I've always assumed that we would see two opposite trajectories: Peggy rising higher and higher, and Don sinking to the depths. I still think that - and it seems to be going that way so far. I think it will end with something terrible happening to Don.

SorrelForbes · 07/04/2015 23:23

I'm already feeling slightly sick about it being the end. Tbh I love them all but my heart belongs to Pete. I hope he has a good ending.

sparklyroundhat · 07/04/2015 23:25

I miss Lane. Even though he was a bit challenged in the looks department.

sparklyroundhat · 07/04/2015 23:26

I would like to see Peggy with her child. She seems to have disowned him for the sake of her career. It would be good if they could show her having it all. Career and family life.

EachandEveryone · 07/04/2015 23:30

What happened to her child? They never really said.

IdaBlankenship · 08/04/2015 08:58

Wasn't the baby taken in by her sister? I'd like Peggy to have it all too - a marriage and continue working. That's why Rizzo would be great as he is unconventional and wouldn't expect her to stay at home.

EachandEveryone · 08/04/2015 11:51

I don't think they made it very clear. Peggy's sister was pregnant at the same time so I think the boy we saw her with was her own. Didn't she tell Pete she gave him away?

It's such a long time ago. I can't google because I'll be beside myself if I see a spoiler.

GrimDamnFanjo · 08/04/2015 16:38

I worry Don may go further downhill. There was a rumour Megan might be murdered a while back. I'd like Pete to be happy.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 08/04/2015 16:49

I'm ridiculously excited and sad at the same time.

I have no idea what is going to happen but I hope they all get good endings.

Peggy- Will be a high flying executive/ad agency owner but will never marry or have anymore children.

Pete- Will be another Roger. Various young women, less alcohol.

Betty- will be in the Governor's mansion. Still repressed.

Megan and Don can't stay together. He should have ended up with Rachel. I can't see Don having a happy ending.

Not sure about Joan, I'm not really sure what she wants.

Harry will become even more of a dick.

Sally and her siblings will need some sort of therapy.

IdaBlankenship · 08/04/2015 21:35

Yes, whatever happens, it will be bittersweet. I don't want it to end Sad

mateysmum · 08/04/2015 21:41

I like your username Ida!

It was never made clear but I think Peggy gave her baby up for adoption and her sister had her own child.

I don't think Don will get back with Megan. I think Megan is now happy with her girlfriend who was in the 3'some in one of the last episodes.

PeteCampbell One of the key hinges of Mad Men is that nobody knows what they want or would realise if it hit them in the face. They are almost all damaged people one way or another.

I know this is pathetic, but I didn't realise that part 1 of series 7 had already been shown. It's been out on DVD for ages and I had no idea (just ordered the DVD now). I'm a Mad Men devotee, so this is ridiculous.

IdaBlankenship · 09/04/2015 17:41

Thanks Matey, only MadMen-ers know the true glory of Ms Blankenship Grin
Hack - but think on the bright side, you get to binge watch the whole lot

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 09/04/2015 17:49

I have no idea, just very, very excited. And a bit sad.

PeteCampbellsRecedingHairline · 09/04/2015 18:06

This means we get to read the Tom and Lorenzo blog too.

I wish I had binged watched from the beginning in preparation. Sad

IdaBlankenship · 10/04/2015 08:03

I can't watch until Monday, so I shall have to stay away until then (and hide from my daily T&L fix). I hope it was a good'un.

hackmum · 10/04/2015 09:52

The Guardian did a piece yesterday on the 10 best characters in Mad Men, and Idea Blankenship was one of them. Wise choice.

hackmum · 10/04/2015 09:52

Or even Ida...

mateysmum · 10/04/2015 10:20

Stay away from the Daily Fail today if you don't want spoilers....
