Lbc's James O'Brien on TV. Watched snippets and cringed. It's like Jeremy Kyle does Politics. I don't get it, has J'OB totally sold out?

Who is the man? He's like a character in eastenders doing politics!
It's a strange show that seems to air the extremes of views but not do much debating and reasoning just lots of tutting

Boswellox · 04/04/2015 11:54

Thanks for response JazzAnnNonMouse, he's an LBC Radio talk show host. I actually like his radio show, where on most subjects he does promote proper debate and reasoning and likes to come at topics from interesting perspectives.

I'll definitely keep listening to the radio show (presume he's just on a break for the TV gig) but will give the TV version a miss.

Reminded me of Kilroy. But even more charmless.

Boswellox · 04/04/2015 20:28

Agree BinarySolo, charmless and a bit leaden. Perhaps he'll relax into it and try and raise the standard of debate. As I say I do like him on the radio.

It reminded me of something we had here in the Midlands on a Friday night with Nicky Campbell. Central weekend i think it was called. It's awful but not as awful as Loose Women.

ChantenayCarrot1 · 04/04/2015 20:37

I recall Central Weekend - it was dire.

I was surprised that O'brien was quite as awful as it was, I found myself actually cringing. There was little proper debate and when I realised that some of the 'normal members of the public' were in fact Towie extras and had done the rounds appearing on dating shows/cooking shows, I just turned over.

Awful

Sparklingbrook · 04/04/2015 20:39

Thanks Chantenay, I hadn't dreamt it then. Grin

There was a Media Request think on MN for people to go on O'Brien. Hmm I have never heard of him.

Got no replies on the thread, possibly some takers that didn't admit to it?

ChantenayCarrot1 · 04/04/2015 20:43

Sparkling Smile I do listen to him on the radio and whilst he can be quite arrogant, he does generally get the roots of a subject. It simply didn't work for me on tv.

Boswellox · 04/04/2015 22:12

I think stick to your radio show seems to be the vibe of this teeny tiny voxpop.

I like him on radio aswell
shame if the TV doesnt work for him, perhaps it'll improve?

Boswellox · 05/04/2015 00:18

Yes, agree suzannecallmestan, shame if it doesn't work out, it was worth a punt though.

Awful it was like jermey Kyle but worse

suzannecallmestan · 05/04/2015 10:00

sounds mean of me I know but I thought he had quite bad posture and that made him look a bit seedy / creepyBlush
