Anyone watching?

Channel 4 usually do drama really badly so my hopes aren't that high!

I'm watching. Though the sight of someone even pretending to be George Osborne is making me want to hurl something at the tv so may have to switch over...

Philoslothy · 28/03/2015 21:52

We are watching, it is quite hard work trying to guess who everyone is before a name is used.

Am loving the idea of labour wooing lib dems with cake

boxofissues · 28/03/2015 22:09

It's not as bad as it could be! Oh what am I saying, it is pretty bad! All ridiculous - as if the conservatives hasn't even thought of coalition with lib Dems until the friday.

Still enjoying it a bit though!

Davros · 28/03/2015 22:19

Love it! Especially Gordon

Philoslothy · 28/03/2015 22:30

It is overwhelmingly sad. A man betraying his principles in a quest for power.

meandjulio · 28/03/2015 22:40

Quite enjoyed some of it but bloody hell it was MALE! Was it really like that? my experience of govt depts is a lot more female/male mix than that. Harriet Harman was it right until nameless shouty Lib Dem woman at the end (Sarah Teather? Who knew, no name).

Mark Gatiss though [heart]

boxofissues · 28/03/2015 22:46

Glad it illustrates Gordon's predicament well - he was Made out to be a squatter but he couldn't just leave

I wonder how Clegg feels about it all now

kerstina · 28/03/2015 23:15

Really enjoyed it . Made me wonder how close it was to the truth do we know?
Made me feel sad for Brown again. Clegg did not come out well in it .

Behooven · 29/03/2015 00:26

I enjoyed it. Clegg definitely came out worst, fair enough as he is a slimeball.

HeeHiles · 29/03/2015 02:24

Was OK - Showed Clegg for what he is - Cameron just looked like a frightened rabbit and was feeling sympathetic towards Brown until the end when he wouldn't wait 10 minutes!

Imagine what would have happened with a minority Tory government against a Lib/Lab coalition in opposition!

HoraceCope · 29/03/2015 07:15

the tories well all of them appeared to be like school boys, osbourne particularly the class swat

HoraceCope · 29/03/2015 07:16

I wonder how Clegg feels now, five years down the line, think there were between a rock and a hard place but probably should have gone with labour due to their principles

gincamelbak · 29/03/2015 09:24

It made Osborne look like a child genius and Clegg like a wet blanket.

I'd forgotten how long it took for the coalition to be formed. Loved the useof real ffootage at the end, I do remember watching that and thinking Clegg already seemed uncomfortable.

It was v hammy though. And male.

DollyParsnip · 29/03/2015 09:42

I thought it was fascinating, apparently although some stuff was pure fiction the writer had met with lots of the people involved, including Mandelson and Osborne and was surprised at how the opposing party accounts matched with each other.

Watching did make me wonder what would have happened if Clegg had walked away right at the beginning and no coalitions had been made. And also how betrayed some Lib Dems must have felt, it surprised me how in the dark everyone except the negotiators were. Bet there are lots of talks starting this week, just in case!

HoraceCope · 29/03/2015 09:48

made me think the Gillian Duffy episode was intentional, to pain Brown badly.

HoraceCope · 29/03/2015 09:49

And i think Rory Bremner could probalby have played all the parts

99pokerface · 29/03/2015 14:01

Ha new it Clegg is as dodgey and the people I live next door to

Out of everyone Clegg comes out as some type of wheeler dealer

This has actually made me like dave more and the labour Lot and the prince of darkness tbh he's very smart and I think deep down he's a Tory fair and as for people banging on about nicks principles you do know he his RIGHT wing don't you liberals tend to be right wing they also want SMALL goverment and allow people to know what's best which is the total oppasite to labour

kerstina · 29/03/2015 16:29

You mean Liberal Democrats Poker ? Grin That did make me smile Harriet reminding Gordon.
That does make sense Poker although I vote Labour, consider myself a socialist and left wing but came out mainly agreeing with Lib den policies in a recent (highbrow) Facebook quiz I did recently! Probably because I am very pro Euthanasia.

Oodear · 29/03/2015 16:36

I found it surprisingly balanced.
Liked the battles within the old Tories and the lib dems kicking off about coalition.

Mark Gatiss was excellent as usual. V creepy as mandelson

HoraceCope · 29/03/2015 18:09

ahem, it is actually Liberal Democrats poker Grin

Travelledtheworld · 30/03/2015 07:16

I enjoyed it, though I did not recognise Osborne, thought he was some sort of whizz kid advisor.

Mark Gatiss Brilliant.

Icimoi · 02/04/2015 20:05

Odd that they didn't have Cable in it. Though I began to wonder whether the Paddy Ashdown role was meant to have been Cable and then got rewritten as Ashdown for some reason.
