I thought episode 9 was the one after the winter break?

Yes I am surprisingly glad that it wasn't the end after all and I think she just wanted him to go and do this thing and not let family hold him back. She went about it all the wrong way but I do think deep down she knew she had to push him or he wouldn't go.
