Watched episode 1 & 2 last night...

I'm not sure... Should we persevere?

It isn't what i (we- dh and i agreed) expected, although i'm not sure what i was expecting iyswim.

Some of it made me quite uncomfortable! (We have watched TWD and loved it so it's not the gore!!

Yes!!! Its amazing! I watched the first couple and was a bit meh, but it really picks up quickly. I became addicted and khal drogo is amazingly sexy

Im rewatching now in preparation for season 5

I live danys story most i think, she turns into such a strong character.
Stick with the first season then decide but be warned, you will probably become addicted :)

5Foot5 · 30/01/2015 13:11

I would say stick with it.

It is not the sort of thing I would normally watch as I am not in to fantasy type stuff, but DH and DD were interested and DD had read the first book. We got Season 1 to take on holiday and by the end of the holiday I was hooked. We watched seasons 1 to 3 on DVD and season 4 as it was aired.

One good thing about it is it has lots of strong female characters.

Watch out for the weddings...

aturtlenamedmack · 30/01/2015 13:14

I would also say stick with it, it took me a few episodes too.
And massive YY to Khal Drogo

Betrayedbutsurvived · 30/01/2015 13:23

Ion def stick with it, I was into from the start as I've read the books, DH wax a a bit meh, but once he'd watched a few, and got to know who everyone was and how they all connected he was hooked. Khal drogo is lush, and I have a soft spot for Tyrian too. Going to watch them all again before the season starts, can't wait.

NickiFury · 30/01/2015 13:26

I thought it was acers from the first episode in, adored The Starks, especially Ned, Rob and hot Jon Snow. It might just not be your thing though. I have to say I never got into The Wire and everyone raves about that, just couldn't see it.

GooodMythicalMorning · 30/01/2015 13:31

Yeah I agree its not for everyone. I love GOT but cant stand Breaking Bad. Give it one more chance but it might just not be for you.

GoofyIsACow · 30/01/2015 15:06

Thanks all, everyone i speak to raves about it so I just wanted to check whether it was first few episode jitters! Grin

The second episode was better than the first but i am still struggling to catch peoples names because i find they all are a bit mumbly...i have just been on imdb to read their names.

Oh god I sound like my dad! :D

agree to stick with it...story line is very good although indispersed with a lot of naked women/sex/titivation, get beyond that and the plot is very good/addictive.

MummyBeerest · 30/01/2015 21:35

Stick to it!

DH and I binge-watched it over Xmas. The first few episodes were a little confusing but once you get a feel for the storylines you'll be hooked!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/01/2015 22:08

I liked the theme tune but I fecking hate GoT

Some gruesome scenes with the horses

ILikeToClean · 31/01/2015 15:03

I just watched seasons 1-3 as my neighbour lent me the DVDs and loved it from episode 1. I like the fact that the characters are never wholly good or wholly evil although I do have my faves! And also it's not afraid to kill off pretty much any of em! Stick with it you'll become addicted, season 4 is currently being repeated on Sky and I hate that I have to wait a week! After each episode I look it up on wiki to make sure I completely understand what had gone on (Blush) beware of looking at the family trees just yet though, too many spoilers!

NickiFury · 31/01/2015 15:10

I'm really disciplined. I record the entire series and then watch back to back. I can't be doing with waiting for a week in between each one. I've trained myself to skim past anything GOT related in the press or on here while I am waiting to watch. The only problem with it though is when something REALLY shocking happens, everyone else is already over it months ago because they watched it then and I have to be shocked and outraged alone Angry.

Lammy7 · 31/01/2015 22:31

Oh do stick with it....I came to this late (August this year) and went completely glutton and watched 1-5 in about 2 weeks :) then re watched it all again over Christmas to be ready for new season in April....and am so pleased my hottie favourite (Jon Snow) lasted the pace for the next season (ok no spoilers sorry but this is my new passion) Am jealous of anyone who has not seen it yet!
