Danny Latimer is a young boy, about the age of 11 who is found dead at the foot of a cliff. They arrest the husband of the D.I. investigating the case (small town) on suspicion of murder with child molesting overtones i.e. the suspect and the boy shared long meaningful hugs at 11 o'clock at night as the young boy left home on his skateboard to meet up with him.
Danny's father was having an affair with a woman from the pub. Danny's mother is unexpectedly pregnant by Danny's father. She has decided to go ahead with the pregnancy and grudgingly let him back into her life now his affair has ended. Danny's father just carries on as normal.
The second series is the trial of the accused who so far has pleaded not guilty to the surprise of his brief as he did it in court after agreeing in private to plead guilty. His confession has just been ruled inadmissible by a smiling Meera Syal who is the judge presiding over the case. This is because his wife, D.I. wife - of - accused gave him a hell of a hiding whilst he was in police custody, after he had given his statement/confession.
Meanwhile, as a side issue, D.I. David Tennant, is being pursued by the man he arrested a few years ago when two twin girls went missing. He made a hash of the case and is trying to sort this against the back drop of the Broadchurch thing. The other case happened in Sandbrook which has become short hand for, 'oh that'.
The whole thing is degenerating into an adult soap opera.
Why did the accused from the Sandbrook case meet up with um who was it ? At D.I. always crying's house ? With D.I. David Tennant lurking ? Why the accused get to unbutton the blouse of the person he had met up with. Why did he abscond with her when David Tennant was distracted by the other D.I. and mother of Danny Latimer were having a row outside the house ?
