Don't know, but imagine they don't go home because every week they've got to pick a song, learn it, rehearse with band/show director for camera angles, choose clothes/hair styles, etc. That takes a lot of work - especially as they're amateurs.

IIRC from last year, they don't go home in between, because I remember Andy? (the black guy) was saying how much he missed his kids etc.
