Best British dramas?

TillHammerZeit · 25/11/2014 20:50

I rarely watch television, but last night I watched 'Remember Me',and loved it. I'd like to watch some other British dramas, and would appreciate any recommendations.

It doesn't matter if they're decades old. They don't have to be ghost stories either. Any suggestions would be very welcome.

TIA

'Our Friends in the North'- lots of big names, including an unrecognisable Daniel Craig, great drama that spans a few of decades in the life of a group of friends. I have it on dvd and have watched it over and again (apologies if you've seen it).

south- I recently watched 'She -Devil'- a bit dated and some shocking acting,Grin but still brilliant to watch again after all these years.

Best- I loved 'the Lost Prince'- very sad story, that I'd had no idea about previously.

Foyle's War - all 7 series of it! I adore Michael Kitchen

The Jewel in the Crown - best thing I've ever seen on tv

Totally agree about Edge of Darkness

Cracker, Traffic (adapted by Hollywood, british series much better than film), House of Cards (another one adapted by US), State of Play (Russell Crowe version after UK version) -- agree with lots of the one's above too! Recently, the Honourable Woman was very good.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 25/11/2014 23:43

Our Friends in the North for me too, absolutely brilliant. Best British drama ever IMO.

I was going to come on and recommend Tenko but a PP beat me to it. Therefore can I suggest 'Wish Me Luck'. Written by the writers of Tenko, it's about British female spies in the French Resistance. I found it utterly compelling.
