I'm watching too! although have to watch it the next day...so no spoilers.
It is enjoyable.

AmIthatHot · 08/11/2014 16:21

I've just watched the week's worth on I player (although part 1 wasn't there)

It finished 10 minutes ago and I'm still crying

It's quite sad that there has been so little comment on this. I thought it was wonderful

starsandunicorns · 08/11/2014 17:51

Watched it too had to blink loads at the end as dh was in room

Shortbutsosweet · 08/11/2014 18:24

Very well written, wonderful.

susiedaisy · 09/11/2014 00:05

It was good wasn't it. So sad, but very well written.

I didn't like the ending.

Clawdy · 09/11/2014 12:30

What happened? guess it was unbearably sad?

AmIthatHot · 09/11/2014 13:08

I only didn't like the ending because it was unbearably sad.

It really made an impression on me. I watched it because DD said they had been discussing it at school.

I think I might watch it again today.

susiedaisy · 09/11/2014 14:29

The ending was sad,

Although it was a relatively 'gentle' drama compared to many films about war it has had quite an impact on me.

I thought it was very clever how in the first episode they showed two families and you grew to like both of them and felt for the mothers who didn't want their boys to go to war, and then they revealed that one family was 'the enemy '

OP posts:
Clawdy · 09/11/2014 15:25

Did both boys die?

susiedaisy · 09/11/2014 17:17

Do you really want to know??

OP posts:
Clawdy · 09/11/2014 18:14

Guess you just answered my question....

susiedaisy · 09/11/2014 18:27

Yes they did at the very end

OP posts:
AmIthatHot · 09/11/2014 19:08

Will you watch it Clawdy?

Clawdy · 09/11/2014 20:35

Feel I ought to watch it, but so much of the coverage today on TV has been distressing, it might be a bridge too far. All the saddest lines from the war poetry keep going through my head!

AmIthatHot · 09/11/2014 21:08

I watched a drama a couple of years ago, that was about one night told from different perspectives - Douglas Hodge was in it and was murdered. That stayed with me for days and days afterwards

I felt like that about Passing Bells. One of the lads said something like "in a hundred years, we'll all be gone and all this will just be history". That line resonated.

I think it will likely be repeated next year. The 7pm slot means a lot of folk missed it
