Anyone seen this series?

Is it any good? A Boardwalk Empire or a Ripper Street?

Couldn't get into it myself and I really wanted too because it looked so good. Might try again.

TheHoundsBitch · 16/10/2014 17:39

It was a bit pants tbh. Too much going on. Although Josh Hartnett snogging Dorian Gray was nice :)
I'll probably watch the next series.

Just seen it reviewed in Fortean Times, not hear of it before. I hated Grimm, so I don't want to be buying it if it's lightweight like that. A bit of quirky Gothic like American Horror Story would be great.

I have a relative who likes to buy us a couple of box sets for Christmas. I might add it to the list with True Detective.

Thanks Smile

I watched it, it took me a few episodes to get into but I ended up rather liking it! It is heavily stylised and atmospheric, visually stunning and mostly well-acted. Quite looking forward to the second season Smile

It's nowhere near as good as AHS, more like Grimm tbh! And Billie Piper's oirish accent is pretty offensive. But it definitely has potential :)

AmeliaPeabody · 17/10/2014 13:39

I watched the whole of the first season and am still undecided. I'm finding it, unintentionally I suspect, amusing in places

ArkhamOffett · 17/10/2014 17:20

I don't mind that. I quite liked Ripper Street until it just got silly. And Whitechapel.

I enjoyed it once I got into it. I liked Ripper street more.

TheHoundsBitch · 17/10/2014 22:40

I loved Ripper Street... I can't wait for the next series (on Lovefilm).

Cooroo · 17/10/2014 22:56

I loved Penny Dreadful, especially the always wonderful Rory Kinnear.

WeAreEternal · 17/10/2014 23:14

I really liked it, though I agree that it does take a couple of episodes to get into it.
And that BPs attempt at an Irish accent is awful.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 18/10/2014 09:18

Really enjoyed this and can't wait for season 2. Smile

GahLinDah · 18/10/2014 09:24

I really enjoyed it. Agree about Billie Piper's character, as much as I like BP, they ought to have got an Northern Irish actress for the part.

Viktor and his 'monsters' were my favourites.

I loved Being Human and we are watching Being Human USA, it's actually really good.
