Casualty - what's happened to Rita's son?

BTW, I haven't last night's ep yet so no spoilers please!

But doesn't Rita have a son, about 8 yrs old? We've seen her at home loads recently and there is no evidence of him whatsoever. And previously she seemed able to socialise after work with no thought to childcare. I'm sure there've been times in the past when he's turned up at the ED.

Mind, I don't know why I expect logic from Casualty/Holby...

Don't think she had one? There was another blonde nurse who was looking after the son of a drug addict friend for a while?

There was a blond junior doctor on Holby a while ago who had a son - she always seemed to be bringing hin in to work and then blaming others when he went missing.

I'm sure that wasn't Rita, she was introduced as living alone and the ceiling of her flat caving in before she got to work on her first day after her hoarder neighbour's floor gave way if I remember rightly.

Wasn't that the character she played in the first episodes filmed in Cardiff? She had kids one fell out of the window

I remember the floor caving in in her first episode. Who am I thinking of with the son then? The drug addict was the sister of the other nurse - she looked after the son & daughter.

When Rita's paedophile ex came in, didn't he ask after the son? Or maybe I'm just making it up now

When the floor caved in, the neighbour she helped had a young son around that age, maybe that's what you were thinking of, Rita has never had children to my knowledge (and I am an avid Casualty viewer)
I love Rita's character, she's so lovely to the patients, just like a nurse should be (without the drinking, natch)

My mind is playing tricks, obviously. It's nearly 30 years (yikes) of watching Casualty wot's done it.

It was Linda who was looking after her niece and nephew as their drug addict mum was unable to.

She came in as moany Jessica's friend. Rita doesn't have any children.
