Did anyone watch this tonight? It was fantastic, so uplifting. If it's on iPlayer, then try and catch it.

Yes my family all loved it. Lots of laughs and loved the fact the real man was featured in it too. Best drama I have watched for a long time.

Horsemad · 26/09/2014 00:12

Agree completely kerstina. In fact, I might watch it again! Smile

I thought it was brilliant. Made me proud to come from Stoke

R4roger · 26/09/2014 06:54

it was so good, indeed marvellous, lovely

OneStepCloser · 26/09/2014 07:02

Wasn't it lovely, amazing story and wonderful acting. Very humorous and yet deeply moving. It was filmed so well, I loved that the whole way through real life and now kept popping up to remind us this was based on real life.

UncleSue · 26/09/2014 07:02

I agree it was really good, very warm. I loved the way they also used the real footage when he was dressed up as the Scotsman!
Excellent, I wish I had recorded it. What a lovely character he is.

patienceisvirtuous · 26/09/2014 08:05

Aw I loved it. I might watch it again too. Lots if tissues required @ the scene where he cries :'(

There's only one Neil Baldwin!! :o

His friend was lovely too.

TalkinPeace · 26/09/2014 13:27

an splendid antidote to the misery of the news

alseb · 26/09/2014 13:34

It really was marvellous. I cried, laughed and clapped! I intend to watch it again tonight. What an amazing man.

awaynboilyurheid · 26/09/2014 16:14

Great programme wasn't Lou Macari really good to him, proud Glaswegian , and his friend played by Greg Hugh I as others have said really liked the fact they interspersed film with the real people, very clever. The stoke fans part was hilarious and yes! the scotsman part , what a character.

Shenanagins · 26/09/2014 21:20

I thought it was one of the best things I have watched in a long time, such an uplifting story.

GeorginaWorsley · 26/09/2014 21:59

In absolutely loved it
I live not too far away from Stoke and son at Keele university so was very interested in it before it aired, watched it and couldn't fault it.
I loved Lou Macari, the relationship between them was great.
And his friend from Keele,Malcolm.
best thing I've watched this year.

MorrisZapp · 27/09/2014 09:13

Truly brilliant telly. I sat with DP, he was fiddling away on his ipad as usual, but I let him off as he was googling Lou Macari and finding out that all the Nello stories were true.

I found it really innovating how they used current real life stuff, plus the choir randomly chipping in.

Great writing too. When Macari turned round and said 'oh for fucks sake' at the chicken suit, it was utterly perfect. We only watched the first half, second half is on hold til after the Ryder Cup.

NoisyBrain · 27/09/2014 09:18

It was lovely wasn't it? I never usually watch those feature length TV films as I have the attention span of a goldfish. I only tuned in because of the football angle and the fact it was a true story. So glad I did Smile

Lizzylou · 27/09/2014 09:23

I loved this. Such a wonderful story, what an amazing life Neil Baldwin has lead.
Really made me think.
