Is anyone watching it? I quite like the new combination of people. It's given a fresh impetus to the show.

I agree. I really enjoyed this last series, and I like the Nicholas Lyndhurst character.

I love it ! Will catch up this week.

I think it's gone from being a policeman version of Last of the Summer Wine to being really good, very well written. I was saying the other week it's almost a shame it's BBC and therefore 1hr a story, as the twists and turns could easily do a longer timeslot per episode.

Not totally convinced by Tamsin Outhwaite, but then wasn't that enthralled with Amanda Pullman. Apart from her coats. She wore about 20 coats per episode.

Tigresswoods · 20/09/2014 06:35

I missed why we changed from Redman to Outhwaite. What was the story in the show?

Lol at Last of the Summer Wine.

Veritata · 20/09/2014 11:34

Didn't Redman go off to another department or something? I've got vague memories of being a bit sceptical after those various episodes where someone tries to tempt her away and she decides No, her heart is in UCOS.

LEMmingaround · 20/09/2014 11:40

No no no no no - i liked the old team. I like that they were a bit off the wall and quirky. Now its lust like any other boringpolice drama. They could have added more depth with the shrinking hat mind....

Dennis Waterman is leaving at the beginning of the next series, because he liked working with the original cast and it's not the same for him now (according to the BBC website).

Tigresswoods · 20/09/2014 21:38

No! Dennis Waterman can't leave! He wrote da feem toon & he sings da feem toon!!

Explored · 20/09/2014 21:46

I still find it quite watchable but I don't like the way they've switched Redman to Outhwaite but haven't really changed the character. It's like the new boss is exactly the same personality as the old one, which never happens.

NotCitrus · 20/09/2014 22:48

Dennis Waterman is becoming a characature of an old geezer - much weaker than the other characters. Outhwaite is rather too similar to Redman but the relationship with her ex instead of Sandra's father is good.

I love the dialogue and characters even though the plots are often pretty predictable (MrNC said it was the dad as soon as he appeared this week), but then we have seen every ep from the start.
