Trauma-tastic.

I love Maxine Peake, no one suffers like her. This is good quality telly despite the plot being a bit obvious at times.

The gentry are a bit social caste by numbers; one gay man, one hysterical woman, one trench casualty, a maid up for it etc etc. But Juliet Stevenson is so magnificent I could watch her shelling peas. Lovely moment when she walks into the room that George has brought someone into.

Interesting to see what happens with the class crossing Policeman.

The Village has been in my opinion fantastic. I have watched both series and thoroughly enjoyed them. Superb!

No one talking about it here? Interesting isn't it? Is there a village thread somewhere else I've missed?
Do you love Maxine P?

I think that the entire cast has been amazing. However, no one seems to be talking about this series!

mrsjavierbardem · 18/09/2014 13:20

total silence. is no one else watching?
That is odd isn't it?

I've enjoyed this series of The Village more than the first - agree it is an excellent cast. I'm very much looking forward to going to see this

baldisbeautiful · 18/09/2014 15:23

I loved this series - and I liked the first one too! Took a bit of getting used to though. What baffled me most weeks was that the snotty greengrocers' wife and George's wife looked identical - I genuinely couldn't tell them apart at times...

diddl · 19/09/2014 16:23

I enjoyed it overall, got a bit soapy in the last ep though.
Was quite hoping that Phoebe would refuse Bert tbh.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/09/2014 08:50

We loved the second series, couldn't stand the first as it was so bleak.

Would their rally have been a bath house in such a small village ? Wouldn't it have been tin baths at home by the fire?

diddl · 20/09/2014 09:41

I wouldn't have expected a bath house tbh.
So what will happen to the Allinghams?
Edmund's wife doesn't want children, George isn't likely to marry again and obviously young Joe doesn't count!
I didn't find them bringing him back at all realistic.
And he'll just live with the Allinghams now??
I'm assuming that the reservoir doesn't happen, but will the fight against it be shown or will the next series have moved on?
Also didn't find it realistic that Grace compromised herself with Gibby.

Clayhead · 20/09/2014 09:43

There was this little thread!

Clawdy · 22/09/2014 14:54

Agree about the Grace - Gibby situation, after everything that had happened, she would not have stood arguing passionately in the street like that! Yes,too many implausibly happy endings really. Think Bert should have just missed Phoebe's bus...
