Any one watching it Smile

OP posts:
StillSquirrelling · 01/10/2014 23:33

I just saw a trailer for this (I don't watch much TV) and at the end of it, it said ep 1 was available on YouTube so I just started watching it. DH then said that it was probably available on Sky catch up, and it was, so I have 4 episodes to watch now. Hopefully it won't be as fucking confusing complicated as Lost, nor end so disappointingly.

diddl · 04/10/2014 23:18

I'm still watching.

just watched Ep6.

Find the gr infuriating.

Do we find out why they smoke, wear white & don't speak?

onedev · 05/10/2014 10:27

Just watching episode 3 - totally confused! Not sure how much longer I'll stick with it really.

frignorant · 05/10/2014 17:34

Watched episode 3, what's with the pigeons?
Once I start watching a series, I find it hard to give up. I'm one of the few that stuck with all 7 seasons of Lost. I hope this doesn't end up being like that.

onedev · 05/10/2014 18:14

Me too frignorant Confused

diddl · 05/10/2014 21:24

Just watched the last one & tbh I think that they could have ended it at that!

HelenaQC · 05/10/2014 23:34

I've watched them all.

I am assuming they smoke for the same reason they want to be attacked - because they want to die but can't/ won't kill themselves.

Have no idea why they don't speak, though.

Great series. The Christopher Ecclestone ep had me on the edge of my seat.

diddl · 06/10/2014 07:41

SPOILERS FOR EP10

The not speaking but writing just seems ridiculous.

Although I get that they aren't just chatting all day.

The placing of the dolls was just awful, wasn't it?

Although i don't get why some were running from the burning buildings when the whole point was to die!?

Don't forget it was the GR that killed Gladys.

So am I right in thinking that the series started 3yrs after "the departure" and Laurie had been with the GR for maybe a year?

So what changed?

Did she ever tell Kevin about the baby?(I thought not)

Was it finding out where Kevin had been when TD happened?

There was already a cult there as people stopped to ask Kevin (when he was having a smoke whilst jogging) "are you ready"?

Something else that occurred to me was that Kevin wished to be free of his family-could that be why Laurie lost the baby??

Found Laurie really annoying & didn't feel that she deserved to reconnect with Tom, although they both seem pretty lost.

But when the Liv Tyler character wrote " at least you'll be together" re Jill being there & she did nothing!!!

So her wish to die overrode her saving her daughter!

I'm guessing that Kevin asked Holy Wayne for his family back & it sort of happened when he got home will Jill to see Nora & a baby there!

GilesGirl · 06/10/2014 08:33

I thought it was horrible. Too invested in it's own cleverness.

diddl · 06/10/2014 08:37

I didn't think that it was trying to be clever at all.

I thought that it was in interesting idea tbh.

Paisleychick · 08/10/2014 09:03

I'm really enjoying it too. It's not like anything I've seen before. I like that they are concentrating on one character (like lost) it's interesting. Either we will find out why things are like how they are or we won't, but I'm enjoying it as we go along!!

Stars66 · 09/10/2014 18:56

I'm watching it and it's bloody odd. I cannot work anything out, so just going with it for the moment!! Shock

starburst1979 · 09/10/2014 22:22

Just done with episode 5...still no clue what's going on but enjoying it!!

Paisleychick · 10/10/2014 17:04

The start of episode 5 was horrible. I couldn't watch. It was just a bit too much.

MonstrousPippin · 16/10/2014 13:28

I've got pretty used to violence in films and on tv but the beginning of episode 5 really shocked me. It wasn't really like anything else I've ever seen and I'd only just watched someone having their throat slashed to death in a film the previous day. Perhaps it was because it was a method of killing you don't often see.

I've watched episodes 1-5 and i'm starting to lose patience. It's altogether too slow moving. Too many scenes of people not talking and not really any story happening. Must be a dream for the actress who plays Laurie though - no lines to learn. Things aren't being explained and I too was someone who watched all seasons of Lost. I guess deep down I don't want to waste my time again and just end up disappointed when they can't explain all the mystery they have set up.

diddl 's description of what is going on by episode 10 doesn't really make me inclined to bother watching any more of it. It sounds like the story hasn't really moved on much.

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 16/10/2014 21:08

I'm watching and I love it. I like that it doesn't spell anything out for you, you have to think and speculate and wait for further information.

Agree re Justin Theroux Blush

Could have wept when Laurie blew the whistle in Father Matt's face at the end of the most recent episode Sad talk about a gutpunch Sad Sad Sad

LumpySpacedPrincess · 18/10/2014 09:34

Love this series. Really thoughtful and some fabulous acting from the cast.

starsandunicorns · 18/10/2014 09:43

I gave up after esp 4 sigh just found it hard going and it started to become a choure to do to get it off my sky planner have moved to TV progs forever and the The strain and Legends

MonstrousPippin · 04/11/2014 22:14

I'm still watching it and just saw episode 8. It ended with him shouting he didn't understand. I don't understand either!

oneflewoutofthecrazynest · 04/11/2014 22:54

I am still watching it reminds me on Donnie Darko which i struggled to figure out, i am struggling with this too but cannot stop watching Smile

BeyondPreparedForHell · 06/11/2014 09:52

Monstrous, agree with that. I'm as desensitised as they come, but I watched that opening scene open mouthed. I've seen up to the end of the season now, i got frustrated not knowing what was going on so found them online! Some questions do get answered, it is less annoying than bloody Lost!! Grin

Also enjoying forever, though that is nowhere near as frustrating :)

LightastheBreeze · 06/11/2014 09:59

Still watching it here and enjoying it though not altogether sure what it's about but its strangely addictive.

DH hates things like this and sat next to me last night, saying what the hell is this rubbish you're watching. I was hoping he wasn't going to ask me for a synopsis of the plot Grin

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 07/11/2014 12:26

Still watching too, and I really really love it but not sure why Confused Grin

I find it sort of mesmerising Confused but yy don't really understand anything yet. I was pleased when Patti started to explain her cult to Justin Theroux but when she'd finished I was none the wiser! Why do they smoke all the time? And what are they doing with all of the clothes laid out and the bodies (??) or remains or whatever it was they unloaded from that truck?

And who is the no-identity guy that shoots dogs and helps fugue-state JT abduct people?!

frignorant · 07/11/2014 18:52

I'm still watching too and it's definitely grown on me.

I'm guessing that the stuff that came on the truck is mannaquins? Perhaps they'll dress them up in the clothing that's been laid out to look like the missing people?

Looking forward to next weeks episode as the preview said it was going to be about the day before the departure.

NotPennysBoat · 12/11/2014 20:46

Anyone still watching? This weeks episode answered a lot of my questions but there are still so many ends to tie up and only one episode to go!
