What do we feel about Ray Donovan so far?

I'm going to give it another go tonight. Last weeks didn't really do it for me. I find his family annoying although Jon Voight is brilliant in the part of the father. His wife annoys me even though I should feel sorry for her. I want to see more of Shane from the L Word. Where there her parents she was watching the show with? What's her story?

That was Ray's other helper and his mother (I think?) that she was watching telly with.

I like it. I do. But I'm not entirely sure why I like it, mainly because I realised the other night that I can't stand either Mickey or Abby, and Ray's not that likeable very much either. Though of course he had the benefit of looking damn good in a suit.

The thing that really annoys me about the show, however, is that I just want an episode or two that are just about Ray fixing things. At the moment it's just an interesting family saga and there is nothing Hollywood about it at all. I really like the concept - Boston bag man now Hollywood fixer, but they just don't do any of that at all. Frustrating.

It's not a patch on the Sopranos. I don't feel for any of them enough. Not even the wife. I want to see more of his work and I'm fascinated by Shane from the L Word I want to know her story. It would've been better just basing each episode on a different Hollywood scenario he has to fix as it is, his work just seems to be a sideline compared to

I too am finding his wife irritating at the moment - like when she was talking to counsellor, after Ray had left.
I too want him to go back to fixing things.

Stu makes me laugh. A better episode for having him in it. He's such an idiot, he never, ever gets that whatever he tries to do, Ray is always a step of ahead of him and Ray is going to win.

Spent most of the episode arguing with DP whether or not she was a real porn star

I still can't stand Mickey, and the stuff with Bridget and Marvin is boring, but the plot line with the journalist looks good. I couldn't quite work out whether she and Ray really did have the hots for each other or whether they were both playing each other - guess that's the point, though.

Abby is still a selfish, whiny, entitled cow and she drives me mad. Again, possibly the point of her. (Though I agree about the rape - weird thing for the writers to put in, in a way, as the sex had been very violent before and she did clearly say no that time. Ray might be an anti-hero, but that is a bit of a step too far)

Was the rape last week? I never noticed it unless my planner cut it out. She is annoying and grabby. He's horrible though but I still would. I'd say she was a porn star they employ them a lot in mainstream these days. The daughter annoyed me when she was in Brothers and Sisters and still does. The whole story confuses me tbh.

Is the forceful sex/ rape supposed to be something to do with his issues after being abused by the priest? The only one I really feel sorry for is Bunchy, he was really messed up by that. Mickey makes my skin crawl, I have no idea how he manages to have sex with so many people!
