NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

beansprout · 04/09/2006 20:23

I suspect not - tell him that actors are people who pretend to be other people doing things.

If it were real, wouldn't it technically be a snuff movie?!

MegaLegs · 04/09/2006 20:23

I've wondered that too, it's so realistic. I hope not though.

snowleopard · 04/09/2006 20:25

I think it is real, DP is sure it's not.

An accident happens, but it might not have been serious - so it could be real. Or if it was serious, or fatal, the parents might have wanted it to be used to warn others. I'm sure it's real because even adult actors never sound that realistic and scriptwriters never write that way.

LadyTophamHatt · 04/09/2006 20:28

I think it's not because specail effects are so easy to achieve nowadays....look at any hollywod film.

He thinks it might be beuase if it is showing it and it not real, then what the differnce to showing it real??

BFN

LadyTophamHatt · 04/09/2006 20:30

He means ...it's horrific to show anyway even being staged/special effects so if it's that bad why not make it the real thing....

Ummmm...still not sure if that makes any sense....

OP posts:
PanicPants · 04/09/2006 20:30

I think it could be as it IS so realistic and gritty.

LadyTophamHatt · 04/09/2006 20:30

tell dh he is barking

beansprout · 04/09/2006 20:33

Can you break it to him that the muppets are not real people?

serenity · 04/09/2006 20:33

It's not. I remember reading a piece about it in the Guardian before it was aired.

snowleopard · 04/09/2006 20:34

Have looked it up!

64.233.183.104/search?q=cache:0brqpaN7wMwJ:www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/thinkmagazine/22/index.htm+%22given+the+road+t/link{heir+full+attention%22+real&hl=en&gl=uk&ct=clnk&cd=2/here}

Not sure if link will work as it's a cached page. The footage is real, up to the accident itself, which is staged.

snowleopard · 04/09/2006 20:34

Arse, will try again

Posey · 04/09/2006 20:35

Well I thought it was real.

LadyTophamHatt · 04/09/2006 20:35

OP posts:
snowleopard · 04/09/2006 20:36

try this?

lemonaid · 04/09/2006 20:40

No. It was directed by Chris Palmer (as per various awards), so unless he pushed a kid into the road...

SaintGeorge · 04/09/2006 20:41

This is from the creators .

9/10 teenagers seem to have found it effective enough to change their habits.

beansprout · 04/09/2006 20:44

Eastenders isn't real either

LadyTophamHatt · 04/09/2006 20:51

I think I need to a start a new thread i relationships....."Would it be wrong to hit my DH over the head with a large heavy object??"

Beabsprout, after having a little chickle about your muppets post he said....."Yes muppets are real, they all spend half their lives on mumsnet"

If you'd all like to form an orderly queue you al all hit him too....after me of course.

OP posts:
beansprout · 04/09/2006 20:53

That's fine, but we are clearly a bunch of muppets who he feels the need to seek answers from!!

LadyTophamHatt · 04/09/2006 20:55

yes...that excatly whay I said.

If it wasn't for "US" he'd still be clueless.

So who is the muppet here...eh?? eh?? eh??

MerlinsBeard · 04/09/2006 21:00

we have a friend who works with films anmd he says that if it was a real mobile phone video then it would be much more pixelated and the quality not broadcastable. He has a preset on his editing software that will turn film into mobile phone footage.

Thats not to say it isn;t real(aside from the accident of course, the girl blocks view for the actual impact)
