Mama1980 · 01/06/2014 18:45

So sorry for tsonga, that was just a non match really.
Shrieky looks in trouble now too. (Not that I mind that Grin)

DramaAlpaca · 01/06/2014 18:57

Shrieky's not in trouble any more...

Raahh · 01/06/2014 19:02

Flipping Shrieky.Hmm

C'mon Stosur!

IreneR · 01/06/2014 19:07

Egads! I go outside to drink a little wine (or drown my sorrows, however you want it), and miss THE ENTIRE Tsonga match?

Hmph. I expected a bit more from Jo, I really did.

trixymalixy · 01/06/2014 19:10

I think Shrieky's got this sewn uo now unfortunately.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 01/06/2014 19:16

Think you're probably right, trixy.

Come on Stosur.

Raahh · 01/06/2014 19:25

I'm finding myself wishing Serena was still in...

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 01/06/2014 19:34

Im getting sick and tired of certain players getting away with spiteful and deliberate tactics to put off their oponents just because they are a box office draw.

bloody Sharapova and her obviously deliberate shrieking.
, for one. Tennis

DramaAlpaca · 01/06/2014 19:37

I agree Macenroe. That shrieking is more than just annoying, it's disrespectful to the opponent.

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 01/06/2014 19:42

I believe shes said before shes not going to stop doing it, and too bad if people don't like it.

shes a bitch, don't know what Grigor sees in her....mind you if shes just as noisy when theyre erm.....Grin Wink Tennis.

flipping Monica Seles started all this didn't she? im not that old but I cant think of one player who made noise before her.

maybe Billie Jean King a teeny bit but that was it.

DramaAlpaca · 01/06/2014 19:46

Yes, I think Seles was the first shrieker & got a lot of flak for it. Billie Jean King had more of an unladylike grunt Grin

On Eurosport now they are discussing the grunting, & how most of the younger players don't do it because it is discouraged. Thank god.

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 01/06/2014 19:48

Theyre doing penalties now for taking too long between points to serve (again, a few players getting away with it, favouritism types), they should do the same for the shrieking, and also IMO the loud bright colours of the shirts!

Another thing to love about Wimbly, the all white rule.

some of those colours and patterns, how can the opponent see the ball? unless they start having flourecent balls -tennis balls I mean Grin. Tennis

Raahh · 01/06/2014 19:50

I've said before, grunts and noises due to exertion are one thing, but not the way she plays. There is just no need.

They are re-capping the Kohl/Murray match- Murray makes a hell of a lot of noise too!

MacenroeTheBoatAshore · 01/06/2014 19:52

yes, agree, Raah, normal exertion fair enough.

Murrays got a weird squeak thing when he serves hasn't he?

Marcel Granollers is very loud too, but I don't think the men are as calculating as the 'ladies'-don't know why they still call them ladies, most of them are the most unladylike females going!

Raahh · 01/06/2014 19:59

Right- onto tomorrow-

The Garcia-Lopez/Monfils match will hopefully be a good a one. They are both grafters, and it could go either way- but I think G-L might nudge it.

Rafa/Lajovic-should be an easy win for Rafa. Only the commentators have decided he is going to lose, as he is clearly injured. He'd better prove them wrong. Lajovic's first name is Dusan- I read it first as SusanBlush

Ferrer has been quietly going along, a bit under the radar, Anderson shouldn't pose a problem, but sometimes David can have odd off days.

Murray/Verdasco- I'm hoping Verdaso gets revenge for Murray's stroppy sweary win at WimbledonGrin

Interesting, especially the part about making the training difficult so that he didn't get everything his way and learnt to cope and fight through when he was the under dog. Makes an interesting contrast when compared with Murray and what happens when he finds a match not going the way he expected. It's almost as though he never learnt that and Lendl had to teach him that as an adult.

Makes you wonder what might have been if he had learnt that as a child. Because I think he actually has the tennis to have achieved more than he has so far.

threebats · 02/06/2014 10:16

Ladies - I have had to put in the hours doing work - utterly bollocks it was - I missed all the action, everything. All the Tennis and all the Brew about the Tennis here.
I am clearly a jinx as, when I step away from the Tv - they fall like a stack of cards... Let this be a lesson to me to remain firmly rooted to my couch, eyes dead ahead and nevr, ever deviate from that spot till close of play for the day....
Speaking of couches.... How's your new one raahh??

And don't be too hard on Shrieky - she sounds exactly as I sound when I do something strenuous like - uh - dust.... Yeah, its knackering, the only way through it is to shriek :o

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 02/06/2014 11:17

Have you got all the work out the way, three?

Really, really don't feel like working today. Maybe I can shriek my way through it. Might get a few odd looks though.

Mama1980 · 02/06/2014 12:37

Vamos rafa! Let's hope the injury thing isn't affecting him too much

Mama1980 · 02/06/2014 12:49

Ferrer just lost the third is still 2-1 up though. Commentators are getting on my nerves, if they mention Murray once more I'm gonna scream, I'm watching rafa!! Grrrr.

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/06/2014 12:57

You're very consciousness three, I'm sure it will pay dividends for you and the rest of us who want to be bag carriers :)

Susan has lovely shoes on - shame they can't help him win at least a point.

Raahh · 02/06/2014 12:57

I had to pop out - the constant references to Murray piss me off. It was much better when he wasn't bloody playing.

I'm camp Verdasco, just becauseGrin.

I didn't see the press conference, but I think the commentators may have pounced on a reference to his back causing him a bit of bother, and decided he was at deaths door. They wish.

Prince!!

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/06/2014 13:00

Oh Fabrice is so sweet - love the story about his match v Rafa :)

Raahh · 02/06/2014 13:00

Susan does have nice shoes. Not as nice as Rafa's matching ones.

Susan is also wearing a distinctive lime coloured stripe- le chemise citron de DOOM may take it's next victimGrin
