Loved the first series but the second series, second episode on, is utter tripe.

The character of Kev in particular has grown so crass it's just unfunny and boring.

What a shameSad

What was ever right with it in series one? The ads alone put me off! Grin

I agree. He's become a caricature of himself, just trying to be more and more crude.

In addition, RG keeps slipping in and out of character. It's like when Billie Piper came back to Dr Who and her portrayal of Rose wasn't quite the same.

There are still lovely bits but Kev has turned ridiculously vile.

Glad in not the only one, the first series was touching, sensitive and showed how relationship are important at all ages.

The development of the student girl was wonderful and showed how a little faith goes a long way.

Now it seems like a shi sitcom set in an old people's home. Utter shit!

Ronmione · 09/05/2014 11:08

*shit

I didn't like Kev in the first series, just couldn't see why he was there. I think that a lot if the charm in series one was from Karl Pilkington's character and it misses him. Don't like the storyline about them trying for a baby either.

Still some good moments but definitely not as good.

annebullin · 10/05/2014 16:51

Kev is vile. He was more of a background character in the last series.
It's really missing Karl Pilkington.

Awful awful programme, I stuck with it through series one, wanting to like it. I think that RG is a tad prattish when not playing a character but so wanted to believe he was being sensitive. Now I think my first instincts were right and he's just making a mockery of the whole thing. No-one thinks RG is as funny as he thinks he is.

aturtlenamedmack · 10/05/2014 16:55

It's getting repetitive too, Derek's monologues about kindness and his views on life felt sensitive and genuine in the first series, where as now they feel forced, it's just the same thing over and over again. Karl Pilkington's character was wonderful, I loved him, he was so human - the show needs him!

ClarksonsPerm · 10/05/2014 16:59

It's reminding me of The Royle Family.

That used to be brilliant. Then from The Queen of Sheba onwards it gradually deteriorated until you got such horrors as the holiday episode and Denise and Dave hosting Christmas and defrosting the turkey in the bath. Awful.

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/05/2014 20:28

I thought this :(

First series. Clever yet sensitive

This series isn't

hildasmuriel · 11/05/2014 22:05

Last episode worst yet. An even worse Kev!

Deathraystare · 27/05/2014 19:17

I just could not stand it at all. Really cringey. He was good in a stomach clenching type of way in The Office, but could not take this at all.
