Argghh, Hinterland Ep 2, help me cos I love it but I dont get it.....

I love the program but I just didnt get the characters this time.

So the very old lady who tried to walk into the sea, she was friendly with a german ww2 soldier who her father shot.

The neighbouring farmer found out and blackmailed him for the land. At the start of the show the 69 yr old son of the blackmailer is found dead.

But the killer is a younger man, presumeably related to the old sea lady, he says he wants his fathers land back. So what did i miss, who is he? At first i thought maybe the old ladys son or grandson via the german soldier, but she didnt hVe one.

Neither did she have a brother, only one sister who i think maybe died, so hrs not her nephew.

And why did she try to kill herself when she heard the 69 yr old neighbour was dead? Then i thought maybe he waa her illicit son adopted by horrible blackmailer, but this wasnt right either!!

Help please!!

The old lady's dad burned down the barn with the soldiers inside so the dead mans father blackmailed him for the land?
So the old lady and the man at the end must have been related in some way as they both lived at the farm?

The old lady was the killer's aunt, she had a brother (his father).

I thought old lady only had a sister who died? And why would she try to kill herself when the 69yr old was killed? Hhmmmm, I need to brush up on my sleuth show skills!

I think the death of her nephew brought back awful memories. She was in love with one of the German soldiers and unwittingly caused his death by telling her father the Germans were hiding in his barn.

Actually I got confused and didn't really get it. Thought I was just being a bit thick glad to see other people struggled as well.

I was as equally confused as you OP, in fact asked DH the same questions but he didn't know either.

Will still be watching tomorrow night
