I had a very cynical thought while watching this on Saturday night. Do you think the programme makers seek out all these people who can't sing? As UnquietDad says, it is great entertainment, but I just cannot believe there are so many deluded people out there.

The girl whos father had built a recording studio sang really badly in the audition - but on the later show with Ben Shepherd she sang a song to the waiting queue that was OK. Her Dad had a go at Simon saying she had grades in music etc etc - I'm sure once he saw how she sang in the audition he will know why she wasn't put through and why just cos you have grades in music does that make you a good singer?

There was also a girl who said Ant and Dec (who she was ab. crazy about) came to her in a dream and said she can sing and should audition.

And I'm sure if DS were thinking of entering and he couldn't sing - I wouldn't say he could, then when he didn't get through, go any mouth off to the panel saying 'Please Simon (why Simon all the time?) He'll work really hard - it's all we've ever dreamed of'

the producers of the show pick out the people thaty will make good tv. The worst, the deluded, the good, the interesting. out of 100,000 people they ahve a lot to choose from! But then if I was making the programme I;d do the same. It;s all good tv though. anyone like Fame Academy when it was on? I was it;s number one fan

I thought he wasn't good last year - this year I agreed with Simon in that he'd had a lot of anger because noone had banged on his door and offered him a record deal and then he tried too hard.

also - I wonder why he wasn't on the ITV1 show? only on ITV2
