GPs: Behind Closed Doors. Channel 5

Did anyone see this last night? It was brilliant!

I watched , as a GP's receptionist I was interested to see what went on behind the door. We get so much flack over the phone about lack of appts, but half of those last night were not needed.

I watched , interesting but I think it would be good if the program showed just how many patients were seen at the surgery by the staff. It didn't convey how busy a surgery is well enough.

I saw it - agree with ggirl that it didn't really convey the sheer volume of patients we see in primary care. Or the variety of stuff we deal with. Or the timewasters, numbers of patients who DNA, unrealistic expectations, demands and inappropriate consultations.

It's on tonight, really looking forward to it

That earwax was awesome! I would pay to be an earwax remover.

I'm only half way through.. There's earwax to come???

I so snorted last week, when the lady was having a consultation sitting with her tween DD, who covertly slipped a birth control leaflet into her pocket. The GP somehow managed to get mum to the other room and said to young girl "I want to talk to you maybe without your mum" to which girl looked shocked and said "why?"
He said he had noticed her take the leaflet and asked her if she wanted to talk.
She said she needed it to retrieve her 50p she had dropped behind the radiator, and ended up leaving with 2 tongue depressers which she thought would work better

I watched tonight.

The main thing that struck me was the contrast in physical appearance between the drs and the patients. The patients nearly all had terrible skin/hair/overweight etc and the drs looked like gods in comparison.

Love the drs in this, they are all great.

That's hilarious. I must congratulate the gp though. It was a good thing he checked and I bet he was relieved it was so innocent.

Dr Fernando is gorgeous
and the older lady Gp is lovely and has that old fashioned approach that is sadly dwindling in practice.
