Me too! but isn't it brilliant.

Rommell · 30/03/2014 22:17

That's the one where he spends half the time going up and down the corridor, isn't it? Meh.

Mirage · 30/03/2014 22:20

I watched it on stage and was scared to death,it was very sinister. This is different, but not bad,you can tell Hammer had a hand in it.

midgeymum2 · 30/03/2014 22:21

Me too! I'm petrified Blush ! Why doesn't he get all the papers in a big box and take them away to read them, so he doesn't have to stay there!?!

MarthasHarbour · 30/03/2014 22:22

i stopped watching it about half an hour in (i think). it was the third or fourth time i screamed and jumped out of my seat that did it for me.

I am usually ok with horror movies - I gave DH a laugh though Angry

difficultpickle · 30/03/2014 22:24

I'm watching too. It's not as sinister as I was expecting. I don't understand why he stayed the night in the house.

LEMmingaround · 30/03/2014 22:24

Pants I missed it

southeastastra · 30/03/2014 22:24

i'd have liked to see it on the stage. the film is crappola, like scooby doo. i watched it with my ds(12) it's like a starter horror.

LucyBabs · 30/03/2014 22:24

Is it on TV now?

HarrietSchulenberg · 30/03/2014 22:27

Saw it at a local film showing (think village hall) and it scared the pants off me. And the 6 old dears who'd alsoturned out on a wet Wednesday to watch it.

Then I got really annoyed: why didn't he just lock himself in the study, or wherever he was, ramp up the fire, light every candle and sit it out till morning? Would you seriously go investigating funny noises in the dark with just a flickery candle?

And I hated the twee ending.

JollyMarie79 · 30/03/2014 22:27

The old original is much better

Mirage · 30/03/2014 22:27

I definitely recommend the stage version. If that doesn't scare you,you are already dead.I was gutted to find we'd missed the tour last year as DH has never seen it.I'm not in the least a theatre lover and can count the number of plays I've seen on one hand, but I'd watch this again.

shakethetree · 30/03/2014 22:28

Yes Lucy but it's been on since 9pm.

difficultpickle · 30/03/2014 22:30

Why are they doing this in the dark? Confused

LucyBabs · 30/03/2014 22:31

Ah damn it! What channel shake Thanks

difficultpickle · 30/03/2014 22:31

Channel 4

midgeymum2 · 30/03/2014 22:31

It's the creepy dolls and monkeys that get me!

LucyBabs · 30/03/2014 22:34

Thanks difficult its on channel 4 +1 now. I was planning on going to bed.. Have to stay up now Smile

GhettoPrincess · 30/03/2014 22:34

Saw it as a stage play....brilliant.

I've never seen such a good play with just two actors and minimal props. As a ghost story it was utterly spell binding.

The sound effect in the play of the carriage wheels approaching is making my skin tingle now as I think about it.....(not least the horse and carriage had to make it over the causeway before the tide came in...)

The sound of the rocking chair rocking and footsteps on the stairs (in the play, I might add.)

SucksFake · 30/03/2014 22:36

I crapped myself the first time I watched it. Do not know why I am putting myself through the trauma again. And I'm not usually a wuss.

I seriously could not cope with the stage show.

midgeymum2 · 30/03/2014 22:37

Oh my goodness! Imagine if you filled your child's room with all that stuff nowadays!! No wonder they're all bonkers...

Jaynebxl · 30/03/2014 22:38

I watched it on a bright sunny afternoon and was still scared. No way I'd watch it at night! Very good though.

nobutreally · 30/03/2014 22:40

Me & dh screamed more than we've ever screamed when we watched the original. We had to apologise to the neighbours next day...

I started watching it this eve and he has vetoed it. He said I could watch it on my own if I liked

Cocolepew · 30/03/2014 22:41

Haha I said that about the toys to DH, they would freak anyone out.

cuttingpicassostoenails · 30/03/2014 22:42

I haven't seen either the film or the play but I have read the book. One of the most frightening books I have ever read. A slow burn and all the more effective for it.
