When does Downton Abbey get interesting?

SiL thought I'd like it. Quite like gritty historical stuff.

Am 4 episodes into series 1. So far it's fluff.

When does the good stuff happen so I can skip scenes.

:)

It is fluff, brilliant fluff.

If you're after gritty and historical you're up the wrong tree!

I love it though Smile

Mr Parmuk is Episode 3. That's about as thrilling as it ever gets in Season 1. Missing snuff box and Mr Parmuk.

This is the exact opposite of gritty historical. The best bit about Downton Abbey is the Mumsnet thread when it's on.

All fluff?

I'll leave it then!

Thank you!!

I found series one slow and a bit underwhelming.

Was very shocked that it went onto have series 2.

I persevered and became a real fan - I can't remember the exact point.

I think you build up an understanding of the complexity of the character relationships over time and then start to over invest emotionally on their various outcomes - finding yourself crying and fretting over fictional situations. Its Sunday night TV at its best.
