Does anyone watch game of thrones and have you also read the books. I have read the books and even though love the tv serie still perfer the books. I was one of those sad people waiting for the next book. Everyone seems to love the tv show yet when I use to tell people the books were great. It was like sad fantasy geek is off again. So who perfers the books to the tv or am I alone?

Waiting for new series, having read all books to date.

I saw series one, two & three and then read the books, so my perception of the book characters is 'clouded' by the actors in the tv series, but I think the casting is generally very good...

VivaLeBeaver · 18/03/2014 18:13

Not alone. I like the TV programmes but I love the books.

Any more rumours about release date for the next book?

bakingNot856 · 18/03/2014 18:36

I wish he would hurry up, he is getting older. The tv serie is going to catch up soon.
Who is your favourite character? Mine are Arya, Jon, Tyrion and Catelyn after the red wedding. I quite like that no one is safe from getting killed. When I read the books I read my favourite character's story first then the rest sad I know.

Me! Can't wait for the next series. It is SO good. Ploughing my way through the books at the moment but I am finding them a bit hard going in places.

Doshusallie · 18/03/2014 18:39

When does it start baking??

AryaOfHouseSnark · 18/03/2014 18:41

Yes, it's not long now,6/4 I think. The walking Dead finishes around then, so I am looking forward to having something good to watch.
I have read and prefer the books too, it am eagerly anticipating TWOW. Doesn't look like it will be anytime soon though.
Really looking forward to seeing how they will do this series.

Pregnantberry · 18/03/2014 18:44

Me! I heard that it starts on the 6th April in the US.

I am still plodding away on book 3. I love Tyrion so much.

I am hoping for less graphic stabbing of babies and/or bumps in this season since I don't think my poor PG emotions could handle it this time around. Wink

SmashleyHop · 18/03/2014 18:49

Love GOT's.. I didn't know about the books until the TV show came out- but I'm liking the books a lot. Still only on the second, though I'm hoping if I read slow enough he will have finished them. I hate waiting.

VivaLeBeaver · 18/03/2014 18:58

Ayra is my favourite character.

Figster · 18/03/2014 19:02

Bloody right cant wait!!

Not read the books but love the show!!

AryaOfHouseSnark · 18/03/2014 19:30

I enjoy Jaime's story and chapters more than others, I know he started off being a bad guy, and I hated him at first. Its great thatGRRM can make you think the baddies are goodies and vice versa. I have really enjoyed his character development and I am intrigued to see how things turn out for him.
My favourite character, and I suppose the one I identify the most with, is Arya.

cookielove · 18/03/2014 19:33

I have read all the books and seen all the series so far!

Much prefer the books, but then i can escape into my imagination, granted now the characters tend to look very much like the ones in the show now.

Favourite characters are: Jon (love Kit Harrington) Arya, Jamie (hated him to begin with but now i love him) Samwell (cause he is just nice) loved Eddard, Tyrion is fantastic and funny! Davos Seaworth.

bakingNot856 · 18/03/2014 19:36

Starts 6th april on sky. Planner on standby. I like the books cause you get to know what they are thinking and Tyrion is funny. And cant wait for his dad to die cause I think it is funny . I am weird .

It starts on 7th April at 9pm on Sky. It airs first in the US on 6th.

bakingNot856 · 18/03/2014 19:57

Thanks checked wrong web site. Still not long now. Like Samwell too was pleased he got girlfriend. Think Jamie is better away from his sister. Going to re read the book so can get exited about Joffrey getting his just deserts.

Maybe you should ask MNHQ to put a spoilers warning in the title, if we are going to talk about the impending series. Don't want to spoil it for the unsullied. Wink

AryaOfHouseSnark · 18/03/2014 20:17

McFlurry I remember you from other threads, did you get to meet Jon Snuuuuur ? Did you tell him he knows nothing ?

NotNoah · 18/03/2014 20:26

I know what you mean about the baby slaying Pregnantberry. I watched the episode when they killed Robert Baratheon's illegitimate daughter with my 3 week old DS asleep on my lap. I had to switch it off as it really got to me. The two little boys of Winterfell tooSad.

I hate Joffrey so much that I can hardly bear any scene with him in it.

Is he even worse in the books?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 18/03/2014 20:33

Just about to say the same Arya as the thread title just refers to new series. I'm okay but wouldn't like someone else to get spoiled for end of series as per a few posts up! Smile

McFlurry · 18/03/2014 20:39

I did get to meet Jon Snuuur, Arya. Both in and out of costume (sadly, in civvies rather than in the buff, though). He's hot...but short. I like 'em of more generous proportions

AryaOfHouseSnark · 18/03/2014 20:41

I reported it and asked them to add it on Nugget hope that's ok with you op.
McFlurry were you really tempted to smell his hair ? I would be.
Who else did you meet ?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 18/03/2014 20:48

I like em short McFlurry rubs knees

I have to watch Season 3 yet, maybe I'll start now.

EverythingCounts · 18/03/2014 20:59

It's DH who is a big fan here (and has read the books) but just popped in to say I have read that GRRM has apparently told the TV people roughly how he plans to end the book series, just in case he doesn't make it, given the pace at which things are currently moving.

McFlurry · 18/03/2014 21:20

I met John Bradley (Samwell) and Hannah Murray (Gilly) as DD's scenes were with them. Also several of the Nights Watch guys but I'm rubbish with names. To be honest, I was most starstruck by meeting the director Michelle McLaren as she was exec producer of my other TV obsession, Breaking Bad. She was lovely too, as was David Nutter who directed the other episode we were on set for.
