Father Ted fans

Just seen a series called The Walshes is starting on BBC 4 at ten.
Its written by the Father Ted people so looks promising

Any good? I will try it on Catch Up. I usually like anything Graham Linehan does

After seeing the previews I think I'll be sticking to repeats of Father Ted.

Oh dear I'm not getting on with this. It seems to be veering dangerously towards Mrs Browns Boys too which isn't my cup of tea. I'll stick to Father Ted too I think.

It was reviewed by Kevin on the Wright stuff & he slated it, so I've not watched.

Is it on catch up?

I watched a bit of it. Crapola.
I think one if the writers of Father Ted was involved but more in an advisory capacity to the script writers rather than writing it himself.

I haven't managed to see any of this.
Is it not worth catching on catch-up then?

As I said, to me it was crapola- but i'd like to hear your view on it

I think it's very weak and stilted. And the character of their son (name escapes me) seems to be based on a poor impersonation of Dougal from Father Ted. The daughter - the sensible one exasperated by her mad family - hasn't that all been done before??

Sorry I recommended this. After watching the first one, oh dear what a disappointment.

Now I feel like a loser- was looking for a thread on this to say how much I liked it. I just watched all three episodes on I player and really liked it!

I'll sit with you, dizzy. I liked it too, though it felt more like an introduction to characters than an actual series.

Ah thanks Brecon! Yes, I agree was disappointed that it was only three episodes. Would definitely like to see more. I really like the father character- very well observed.

i love father ted. i think of him as my own father. he has always been there for me. i like the episode with the sheep lol
