Raven (CBBC) - Help with dress up costume

OK. I've searched current messages and couldn't find anything on this but ds & his friends are currently on a 'Raven' craze.

I've made him a simple black cloak with some feathery bits on it.

Any ideas where to get black feathers on a strip of ribbon that you can sew on to clothing? I saw just what I wanted in an Asian fabric shop but it was about £15 which I think is too much for a kid's dressing up craze that'll probably only last a month or two.

Anyone seen anything like the raven-headed staff he uses in the programme?

What about pulling apart a feather duster and using that? I'm sure you could pick one up quite cheaply. My Ds loves raven too but I'll need to think about how you could make the staff!!

If I could find a black feather duster I think that would work really well. THanks.

Re. staff. My latest idea is papier mache - would be fun trying to make something vaguely the right shape anyway. Have scoured ebay for anything suitable/cheap but to no avail.

DP thinks I'm taking it all way too seriously & ds isn't too impressed with The Island anyway because Raven isn't in it & it's all a bit more serious/slower paced.
