Bring your wine, vodka, brain bleach and indignation - lets all shout out our GCSE results together!

All of them are awful, who is the least worst?

Channel 5, if you're reading, Anne's suggestion is a fantastic one Wink

onedev · 26/01/2014 12:10

As usual Anne, I agree with you Grin

LovelyMarchHare · 26/01/2014 12:24

The reason I like CBB rather than regular BB is that the people who go into it are, on the whole, much more grotesque and fascinating to watch. I am always surprised if anyone credible or at the height of their fame even considers it. They are all pathetic in one way or another and I genuinely couldn't give a shit who wins. I couldn't hold a really strong and committed view about any of them.

Yes, it's edited and skewed so as to provoke threads like this. Does anyone believe that we, as viewers, are being done over by a misrepresentation of the truth? We are all complicit in the tawdry pettiness of it by tuning in night after night.

People are so vehement about who should or shouldn't win yet the views on here are patently out of step with the voting public. Apparently Jim shouldn't win as he is an awful man who has done some awful things in his past. Maybe the public have forgiven him? Or think he's changed? Or they don't know the background? Or couldn't give an arse if he's a sexist, racist, homophobic wife beater. That's the issue for me. Not some sad old man trading on past fame and trying to make a few quid. Why do so many vote for him? He's contributed very little to the show. Probably because we live in a society where people dont think these things are important to someone's likeability. Which depresses me much more than him sniping at Linda Nolan.

Piscivorus · 26/01/2014 12:29

I wonder if somebody comes in for Jim in that challenge? Obviously I haven't seen it yet but I saw Blue came for Lee (nice), Ollie's mum and sister came (nice), I heard Billie came for Sam (nice) then Jasmine for Casey (not at all nice!). Was there anyone relating to Jim in any way?

I was wondering after BBOTS last night, if the opinions on it were genuine or another calculated move to make people see Jim as an underdog even now Linda is out. I did feel it was a very swift about face on their previous programmes and, while I try to remain impartial, I felt more pro-Jim despite everything we know, as the psychologists seemed so totally anti.

thornrose · 26/01/2014 12:41

That's a good point Piscivorus letting Lee have Blue, his supportive best mates and then putting Jasmine in for Casey was vile and shit stirring.

StrokeOfBadLuck · 26/01/2014 13:08

The overall tone of the editing is really anti-women, I feel. While Linda may have acted as she did for some of the time, no positive shots were shown. Yet she seems to have been quite popular in the house.

And Jim... words fail me. As LMHare said, perhaps people couldn't give an arse if he's a sexist, racist, homophobic wife beater.

People go on about how awful Jimmy Savile was, and wonder how he could get away with it... then vote for Jim with a clean conscientious. Jim might not be interested in children, but he ranks pretty low down there in my estimation.

RedToothBrush · 26/01/2014 13:47

Piscivorus, didn't the lovely Judy James say that about the 'newton's cradle effect' in reality tv. When psychologists or presenters push one character, it has the effect of knocking all the balls so the movement of votes comes out the other side for the opposite person in the argument.

And do fuck off with the phrase Jim apologist Anne.

www.dailystar.co.uk/tv/big-brother/362412/Linda-Nolan-Cruel-Jim-Davidson-drove-me-to-self-harm-again

Daily Star article.

Personally I think self harmers, harm because of long term problems that they haven't resolved. One incident can set someone off, but at heart the issues are more to do with bigger issues rather than the actual incident itself.

If true Big Brother's psyche team are incompetent and it does make you wonder how long before there is a really serious incident in the house, and they are forced to actually do something.

I've just read that, Aaron Allard-Morgan, the first c5 winner, claimed last year that 4 of his fellow housemates attempted suicide after the show.

I think I feel sick.

ShellyF · 26/01/2014 14:11

Casey's mum has just visited. Now Dappy's mate apparently.

StrokeOfBadLuck · 26/01/2014 14:48

RTB - that's awful. This is the first time I've seen it since it was on Channel 5. I actually feel bad about having watched it now, and reading the Linda article, with all the awful comments at the bottom, makes me feel a little like those ladies who knitted at the guillotine. All of the "celebrities" seem desperate and unhinged - and if they weren't before they went in, they are now. That exercise showing up Dappy's (lack of) intellect was downright cruel, as that was obviously something that cut him to the core.

I thought it was a bit of fun, but now I feel like CBB is an evil puppet master. Who knows what lines it feeds to the contestants in the diary room to encourage their behaviour.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/01/2014 15:12

Erm, excuse me, Red, don't tell me to fuck off. There are lots of Jim apologists out there. Look at Digital Spy. I was not commenting about anyone on here. Maybe you have a chip on your shoulder, but don't go assuming everything is about you. It isn't.

This was a nice thread with everyone disagreeing amicably enough, agreeing to disagree. There is no need to tell anyone to fuck off. Get over yourself.

Bloody hell I've i come on my break to find that this threads turned sour for the first time in bloody years? Sad

thornrose · 26/01/2014 15:38

It's a bummer Sad

mrsjay · 26/01/2014 16:07

Oh dear it is all gone a bit wrong no need to be swearing at anybody red and really if Linda Nolan was self harming they would be taking her out

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/01/2014 16:14

To be fair it all went bonkers last series too.

Anyway, let's all move on and talk about our GCSE results.

Luisa made me howl last night when she walked on on a drunk dappy and SAID OMG YOUR WILLY IS HUGE Grin and then got him dressed

onedev · 26/01/2014 16:32

I hated the way the last thread kept turning nasty & have loved the thread this series as whilst we may disagree, it's nice & civil Smile.

I agree re comments of self harming - that doesn't come out of nowhere & generally there's a deep history, but I do think for Linda, Jim could easily be a trigger unfortunately.

I'm looking forward to tonight's episode to see the friends go in & seeing how things are with Jasmine!

BB & CBB has been going a long time so everyone knows what they're letting themselves in for - so I've no sympathy for anyone who goes into the house Grin

mrsjay · 26/01/2014 16:37

I saw a picture earlier of casey's mum finger pointing and casey crying Shock Linda nolan could have walked at any time I suppose

onedev · 26/01/2014 16:42

I think if they walk out, they don't get their fee though, do they? I think that's the reason they do stick it until the end as surely many more would leave!

mrsjay · 26/01/2014 16:43

yes they get paid after staying a certain amount of time (i think)

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/01/2014 16:48

I wonder what Casey's mum said to her. I hope she made her think about what she is doing. Lee continually tells her that he's not interested beyond a casual fumble, but she doesn't listen to him.

I think a lot of celebs see CBB as easy money, but it isn't. It makes you very vulnerable and basically makes it open-season on criticising everything you do / have done. They used to do "the talk of doom" to normal BB contestants before they went in. It doesn't look like they bother with this any more. I suppose they wouldn't get celebs in if they pointed out their entire dodgy backstory would be dredged up in the tabloids again.

OP posts:
onedev · 26/01/2014 16:48

Oh really, I hadn't realised that - I thought they had to stay until voted out otherwise no money was paid. Any idea how much they actually get paid?

AnneEyhtMeyer · 26/01/2014 16:50

They all get paid different amounts I think. Casey alluded to thinking she should have gotten more based on her "fame" compared to some others in there the other night.
