Time to archive some films

I switched on the telly ready to settle down to a film or something. On Film 4 is a film called Bhowani Junction (1956), about home rule in India. I've not put it on, although this topic is of interest to me, because it says in the blurb, "Contains some of the era's racist attitudes & language." This is something that I don't want my children to see & don't consider entertainment. Isn't it time that these films, like the awful cowboy films too, with their portrayal of racism & sexism as not just acceptable but almost aspirational, were catalogued & archived. Surely they're not acceptable viewing any longer?

I'd rather focus on what is unacceptable now.

Like the largest industry in the world - pornography. By far the most damaging and most exploitative.

Much worse than calling someone Red Indian/coloured etc in a film.

I take your point, I read an article on the BBC about the exploitation of porn film workers by film companies & it was terrible. But, these outdated, racist, sexist films are on general/family view channels at teatime & I just think that it's time for them to go now.
