Heavens. If ds did this I'd get him locked up!

I wouldn't want to see it...

ouryve · 19/01/2014 21:58

I couldn't watch the trailer for it - it gave me vertigo.

thenightsky · 19/01/2014 21:58

Is he her only child?

DuffyMoon · 19/01/2014 21:59

Off to LA again

YourMotherChucksRocksInHull · 19/01/2014 22:00

Made me laugh when they climbed up that one in Kiev and said what a fearsome and dangerous climb it was, how people were scared to do it. Then got to the top and it was covered in graffiti Grin

thenightsky · 19/01/2014 22:06

sadly he reminded me too much of DS... disengaged from education, hiding in his room, no real friends Sad

inlovewithgarp · 19/01/2014 22:14

Yes, reminded me of my DS too. Wonder if he had been screened for ASD? The lack of empathy and difficulty with eye contact was apparent.

thenightsky · 19/01/2014 22:18

Wonder where he will end up life. He could be an olympic level gymnast or something similar if only he could engage with the real world. It is quite sad really.

inlovewithgarp · 19/01/2014 22:25

I said the same, totally agree. The bit where they were on the Moscow Bridge smacked of a little boy trying to outdo the other. And it seemed like it was a drug to him, the climbing. So what happens when he doesn't get "high" from 'just' climbing a 200m crane with no safety equipment... Confused

TheWave · 19/01/2014 22:37

Next challenge and next etc. I agree. He hasn't even been doing this for that long really. What's next?

Nancy66 · 20/01/2014 08:42

I watched the whole thing with sweaty palms and pins and needles feet.

I hope, if he insists on continuing with this, then he works alone. The Ukranian bloke came across as a bit unhinged and that, consequently, was making James take risks he wouldn't normally.

he did come across as a bit of an indulged middle-class boy. He doesn't appear to work but has plenty of money to fun trips to America etc

BabeRuthless · 20/01/2014 11:05

His poor mother. I did wonder about asd but wasn't sure (ds has autism so I'm usually able to spot it in others) I hope he does stay safe and finds a less extreme way of expressing himself. I just couldn't see him in a regular job.

inlovewithgarp · 20/01/2014 11:19

No, I agree, could never see him in an office! But he could do so much couldn't he.

I have to say I agree re the indulged middle-class boy, I said that last night too. The mum didn't seem too assertive either, particularly when she was talking about his childhood and when he stopped going to school. Maybe the lack of a strong male role model too - didn't they say the dad hadn't been involved?

Does anyone else think it smacked a bit of attention-seeking?
(or am I just horrid and judgey?)

Cherrypie32 · 20/01/2014 12:00

If (as it seemed) he doesn't work then surely his parents could put an end to the more extreme climbing by not providing the money for such overseas trips. There wasn't an awful lot he could get up to here as more stringent laws. She could have tried a lot more to stop his hobby in my opinion.

BabeRuthless · 20/01/2014 14:53

To be fair we don't know where he gets his money from, we're just assuming it's from his mum. Maybe he had a massive inheritance somewhere down the line. Also we don't know how many conversations she's had with him about stopping.

MyBaby1day · 30/01/2014 07:44

This guy is really different!!
