This is eye opening for me. The total disregard they have for the recipe makes me understand why people think baking is so hard.

I am amazed how good Alistair's eccles cakes look considering how awful his "pastry" was.

Victoria Pendleton last night made me think of the Munch painting "The Scream". Those terrified eyes...

They don't give them a full recipe though do they? They just get a v basic one where they have to work out the rest I think

Oh dear lord. I hope Paul watches this and sees how bad his pastry was.

I concede that I haven't made rough puff - I think it might be worth a try. But if a recipe asks for 3 tablespoons, then you measure it out, rather than chuck the lot in.

And the use of skewers was really interesting.

Oh, forgot this was on again. I didn't much like Victoria Pendleton when she was on Strictly but would have liked to have seen her win last night. Emma Freud came across as smug!
