Completely ignorant when it comes to adoption so please forgive me but why is it harder to place boys?

SnakeyMcBadass · 15/01/2014 22:52

Yep. I want to grab Connor and Daniel and bring them home :(

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 15/01/2014 22:53

Me too snakey!

I don't understand why anyone would adopt only one child knowing it had been separated from a sibling. Don't these kids go through enough as it is?

Yes. Breaking my heart at it. I want to take those adorable little boys home :(

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 15/01/2014 22:55

I've no idea why girls are easier to place. Cuter maybe? Perhaps people think boys are more likely to have behavioural problems? (Not saying this is the case, just may be the perception)

Watching and weeping for these little boys. Splitting two brothers up... just awful. thank God for these wonderful foster carers.

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 15/01/2014 22:56

Oh thank god they are going to stay together.Smile

They seem such lovely boys.

I know that people want to adopt younger children on the whole, but these 2 seem fab.

It would be heartbreaking for them to be split up - thankfully that now seems unlikely, but not to get their own family would be so sad.

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 15/01/2014 22:58

Not sure about the adoption activity days. Too much like a slave auction IMO.

Oh benefit st on next. I'm going to bed! If anyone didn't see finding mum and dad from the beginning it will be on 4+1.

They seemed lovely boys. Well behaved and quite bright- why wouldn't a potential adopter make them part if their family?

Twinkleandbunty · 15/01/2014 23:01

Heartbreaking. I was hoping for a happy ending for those poor kids...
Thank god for those fabulous foster parents.

ViviPru · 15/01/2014 23:01

My BiL and SiL have been being assessed as adoptive parents for coming up for a year now. They are keen to adopt older siblings, boys or girls. They are wonderful people and fantastic parents to my DN. It gives me the rage that red tape and bureaucracy are standing between people like them and children like this Sad

nopanicandverylittleanxiety · 15/01/2014 23:01

ugh. I can't stop sobbing. They are gorgeous boys. I seriously hope they don't get separated.

ggirl · 15/01/2014 23:02

despite being successfull those adoption parties leave a bad taste in my mouth

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 15/01/2014 23:02

Hear hear vivi.

I really didn't realise separating siblings was still common practice. You hear horrible stories of it happening in the 60s, but shocked to see it still goes on.

flatmum · 15/01/2014 23:04

I cannot believe there isn't a family out there for those 2 lovely boys. I said on the other thread, I have boys and know a lot of boys and they seem lovely boys. Why haven't they been adopted by someone like your b and sil!! Really hope someone comes forward after this program.

Chippednailvarnish · 15/01/2014 23:05

It's like speed dating, but only one of the parties get to choose.

Very upsetting.

I hope they do a follow up.
Surely they will get a family after this? You'd need a heart of concrete not to be moved.

TossedSaladsAndScrambledEggs · 15/01/2014 23:07

What is worse the boys are bound to see this program when they grow up and see how "unpopular" they were.

And hate how channel 4 put the caption "#adoptionparties" at bottom of the screen. They knew it would be controversial and get people talking on twitter. Bad taste indeed.
