Haven't read the book, but loved the series.

I think the point is that he's not blind to what's happening but refuses to abandon his principles to get the upper hand, which is what most other characters do.

Diddl clearly has the best advice.

I didn't think they had sex on the train? surely that was just a rumour by browning? instead he was comforting her and being very gallant

You really need to read the books. The TV series was hard to follow because it expunged so much of the interior monologue and detail. But it was still unmissable.

I probably should read the books, will look into hiring them from the library
