Simply cannot believe that the BBC are cancelling this brilliant series-tis the best drama on TV! Soo disappointed :(

That was fantastic ..... several watch through your fingers moments but then that's half the attraction. I love the fact it doesn't pull any punches (no pun intended, after last night). There were obviously loads of loose ends left just begging for a further series - Rose & Drake (will they won't they), Susan and Jackson (ditto), Reid and councillor woman, what will become of Flight, or Shine etc. Am feeling very down at the thought this could be it .... I hate it when series drag on long past their best, but this really doesn't feel it deserves to be shelved. I thought the characterisation this series was great, like we started to get right inside the heads of the characters - Drake and Susan in particular - and repulsive though he was I thought Shine was a brilliant character, would love to know more about him, why he is like he is and so on.

Totally agree catsmother- so many rich story lines still to be developed and much, much more to find out about the characters. Agree re the fabulous Joseph Mawle who plays Shine..deliciously compelling and creepy!..and yes, any fans of the show, add your vote-it just might make a difference!

I now love Jerome Flynn...his speech about the way they had lived their lives to Matthew M. was so moving. I just wish he and Rose had been together at the end. Sad

You could see from that last episode all the possible threads for series 3 and it is so incredibly frustrating and angry making that there will be no 3. Farewell Ripper Street - you will be much missed. Xmas Sad

I think I read somewhere that the last episode was filmed before the axe fell ..... so yes, it makes perfect sense that it was left wide open with lots of possible future plots.

I have a feeling a deal with be done with Lovefilm, I can't remember the last time there was such outrage at a BBC acting plus there's been a lot of industry support for the show.
