Just finished watching it on Ch4+1.
I didn't Mumsnet the whole way through and that is very unusual for me. Absolutely fascinating I totally agree.

Really thought provoking. Interesting that there was nothing from his children.
Without wanting to detract from his achievements in any way, I wondered if he would have been able to think like he did without the unimpeded focus imposed on him by his illness.

When he lost the use of his hands, were they suggesting that instead of impeding him by not being able to write calculations, his brain developed other ways to work, as though to compensate? As though his working process was enhanced in some way, without the need to keep stopping and writing down things to progress calculations? He could just pursue these amazing trains of thought without forgetting?
