Love it too. Vod's presentation about Salman Rushdie was eerily similar to my own undergraduate musings on Midnight's Children.

Oh but what I love about Kingsley is how he started off quite nice and gradually became more and more annoying with the stupid goatee and the stupid hat etc. I like a bit of character development....

I thought it was a pretty strong first episode. DH and I were in fits when they caught Josie and Kingsley shagging in the room with them and JP announced he was going to have a wank

I love Vod, but couldn't quite grasp, is she besotted with her South American lover or does she wish he'd just fuck off now. If the latter I'm surprised she doesn't just hoof him out.

Hope they develop wassername, Aubergine? a bit this series too.

Been watching the first series on DVD. It bears repeated watching - there's just so much funny stuff going on you don't get it all first time round. And yes, the settings are spot on.

How do they manage to make the characters rounded and unpredictable, and yet at the same time so stereotypical it makes it more fun because you keep going 'Oh, I knew someone exactly like that'?

Is it weird that when we watch it my husband and I want to be students again?

I LOVED Kingsley JP and Howard's fantasies about Javier- professional footballer turned surfer dude who dropped out of medical school but could still save a dog with a broken neck....

And Oregon's ongoing translations were hilarious.

As ever the Kingsley/Josie/Heather love triangle was the most boring and predictable. The sex scene was great though. JP deciding to have a wank then Vod adding 'if he's having a wank I'm having a wank' was classic.

I still think Vod and JP will sleep together at some point.
