How long do you think Modern Family can go on for?

I love it but, I don't think this season has been as good. Infact I've cried at some of the episodes. Has it always been so smaltzy? I'm just thinking, they are all growing up so how much longer fan it go on for and still be funny? I know the Simpsons has managed it but they never age. I'm trying to remember how many seasons Roseanne or The Cosbys ran for.

Interesting question. I am enjoying this series but I agree that it is a bit smaltzy. I would give it one or two more series but no more.

I love Gloria.

Lighthousekeeping · 02/11/2013 00:19

I love Gloria too. My sister moans that they are too rich. I kind of like looking at their houses! I loved the one with the daughter going out with the older guy! Did you ever see them on that show In the Studio?

It's not as funny any more.

The first two series were genius.

It's still a lot funnier than most things on TV. DD made me watch the Millers this week which is AWFUL.

Is it wrong to have a massive crush on Al Bundy Jay Pritchett?

It is a very aspirational view of life.

I like the Middle. That's more normal and very funny. I started off liking Modern Family more, now I Like the Middle better.

Well he's then double of my dad including the young wife so, yes! Grin

My sister prefers the middle as well.

Grin I still love Jay.

They are all brilliant actors I think. I can rewatch the earlier episodes time and time again.

Lighthousekeeping · 02/11/2013 00:33

When they were in the actors studio they were exactly the same! It's like the roles were written for them. Cameron was a clown in his other life. Gloria really talks like that and is exactly the same. Phil spent his actor/college days being stoned and I saw Jay at the Emmies and his real wife is Gloria in ten years time! It was fascinating. It will be the children developing and growing up that will have an effect on where the show goes.

I loved the actors studio with them, they seemed wonderfully like their characters.

My all time favourite character was the ridiculously cute baby who played Lily in the first two series.

Lighthousekeeping · 02/11/2013 00:41

I didn't realise they'd changed her!

As a huge fan of Malcolm in the Middle I find The Middle a bit too similar.

I can watch and re watch Malcolm in The Middle although it's not a patch on Father Ted

AnkaretLestrange · 02/11/2013 01:33

I love Malcolm so much, mainly for Jane Kaczmarek and Brian Cranston who play the mum and dad and the evil woman who plays Lois's mum.

Has a new series started, am I missing it Sad, I was watching old episodes earlier and said to ds2 I was wondering when a new series would start. I love it and think it is one of the funniest shows in a long time Grin

I agree about The Middle, not really a fan and I don't like the mother, I loved Malcolm in the middle, very funny show, I could it watch again and again.

Lighthousekeeping · 02/11/2013 02:32

Nothing beats Father Ted for sure!

The last one I watched was the roller skating one with Mitchell's ex Teddy. I think that was the end of the season. I did enjoy it I just wonder where it can go now. I wished Mannie had got into that private school Grin

Lighthousekeeping, the last episode in that season is where Phils mum dies Sad, I don't think season five has started here, I hope not anyway, must have a quick google and see if I can find out when it is starting.

Lighthousekeeping · 02/11/2013 23:17

Oh yes that must be next weeks. The retirement village she was in just goes to show they must be above average financially. That was another weepy. I've never cried so much this season!

My DC like The Middle but that's changed now Brick seems much older.
