But how come germophobe Tuesday was pictured sitting on the kerb with her mother, with her hands on the pavement? I feel a bit suspicious now...

wetaugust · 29/10/2013 20:42

Liked the stats! 25 stone of poo and 900 pints of urine per person per year!

That's almost a pound of poo a day!

SoleSorceress · 29/10/2013 20:45

Oooh nothing gets past Grey :)

Yeah, you poo out me every year lol

If the dog guy has his house cleaned, he needs to change where the dogs go etc as I doubt he wil keep up the cleaning.

Dog poo in the house!!!!

wetaugust · 29/10/2013 20:48

Dog poo in your house is disgusting. That guy has really lost the plot.

It's interesting that both types of behaviours i.e. the OCD and the hoarding appear to be triggered by life events.

Greypuddle · 29/10/2013 20:51

I'm watching that girl like a hawk now Wink. Gosh, it's all very depressing from both sides. Oh, here comes the happy bit!

SoleSorceress · 29/10/2013 20:54

Nice hoyse!
I wonder if the other rooms will get done abd if they keep it up.

I noticed the pavement touching! And I wondered why on earth the shaving mother took her whole handbag in the house Hmm

Surely a carrier bag that could have been thrown away, would have been a better option for 100 10 bottles of Anti-Bac.

Greypuddle · 29/10/2013 21:05

Poor Vinnie. I bet he smells lovely (with a touch of bleach).

Greypuddle · 29/10/2013 21:06

The pavement touching WAS odd! And all this 'she can hug someone now'...she touched the dogshitty pavement! I want my licence fee back.

YoureBeingAnAnyFuckerFan · 29/10/2013 21:10

Greypuddle im jut watching this now and thought the exact same thing about the hands on pavement. And wouldnt someone with that level of germ fear bring bottled water to a dirty house?

Trazzletoes · 29/10/2013 21:20

This programme really depresses me. The programme makers are endorsing and encouraging the compulsions and obsessions of the OCD sufferers. Neither of the sides of the coin are "healthy" but it's pretty rare for the OCD sufferers to come away saying "yes, I need to clean less/ use less bleach etc".

Greypuddle · 29/10/2013 21:21

And you wouldn't accidentally use a grotty, used cleaning sponge. I smell a bleach-scrubbed rat.

YoureBeingAnAnyFuckerFan · 29/10/2013 21:27

Me too grey.

I also wondered about her piercings and tattoo. Wouldnt they be a big issue for a germophobic person? Especially the tattoo.

MsUumellmahaye · 29/10/2013 21:45

thats exactly what i always think trazzle. the ocd sufferers behaver is seen as the ideal but i think it is equally as destructive if not more so than the hoarders but this is not addressed.

Trazzletoes · 29/10/2013 21:48

There's OCD (though not a cleaning obsession) and hoarding in my family. They're actually very very similar when it comes down to the bare bones. And I totally agree that they are equally destructive. It isn't healthy or funny to not have anyone in your house for 5 years because you can't cope with it.

Trazzletoes · 29/10/2013 21:52

I think there was a woman on the last series who cut down her bleach habit but was still using multiple bottles per day. And that was only because someone else with OCD pointed out how harmful it was to her health. I think she was billed as having been successfully treated for OCD. I remember saying to DH at the time that she may well have cut down, and possibly quite considerably, on the symptoms but her life was still a long, long way from "normal".

And it is controllable, generally, with CBT and the like. It's one of those things that's always there but can be kept very much in check, allowing people to live healthy lives again .

YoureBeingAnAnyFuckerFan · 29/10/2013 22:10

Well hoarding is a form of OCD so they are just two ends of the spectrum. When i was very depressed my hoarding got quite bad.

I agree with comments that the show seems to portray the obsessive cleaners as the ideal rather than just as unhealthy.

YoureBeingAnAnyFuckerFan · 29/10/2013 22:13

Trazzletoes that was the woman who was in it this week and had her toilet tested for germs. She seems to be back to as bad as she was with the bleach.

killpeppa · 29/10/2013 22:15

trazzletoes- it's the same girl with the long dark hair with the bleach habit.
she couldn't even smell it anymore.

it makes me think about cleaning my bathrooms but then the moment passes Wink

CostaRicaToucan · 29/10/2013 22:16

I thought that the situation with the obsessive cleaners was sadder than the hoarders. To not be able to hug or have friends around and to spend 16 hours a day cleaning is just so awful Sad.

YoureBeingAnAnyFuckerFan · 29/10/2013 22:23

It really is sad isnt it. I was glad to see the mum and daughter had started therapy.
