to me 11 children and not working is taking the piss, and over a £1k a month in rent is silly - move them to a cheaper (tho nice) area

Over 11,000 people found 'fit for work' have died in the past two years whilst some masturbate over 'getting rid of scroungers'.

Makes me sick. Programmes like this increase the hatred towards my family and actively makes my life harder as a carer.

So enjoy, won't you? Knowing that your 'entertainment' is making life miserable for thousands of carers like me who save the taxpayer billions of pounds a year?

and I'm pretty sure they have picked the ruffest of the bunch so will just end up being another dig at people that are on benefits. majority of people I know who claim benefits are ashamed to do so because of this stigma that anyone who does is shit. which isn't the case people fall on hard times. could happen to any of us.

I actually feel fear when any of these programs are aired. I wonder what horrible thing the government have lined up next for people.

I'm actually very glad we have a benefits system to help those in need.

Will not be watching - this is a beyond vile concept.
The production company should be ashamed of themselves for profiteering from other peoples misery in such an appalling way.

if you note, I said I have no problem in people claiming benefits but if they can to seek work

those who have /need/are carers/have children or those with sn should be exempt

obv every case if different and should be judged on their circumstances

im talking about those on benefits who don't want to find a job, and in some cases I understand why as they would be worse off working - and fair enough earning nmw of think £6.20ish ph hour for work is awful and without help they cant afford to pay their rent/bills/eat etc if they come off benefits

have always said government needs to up nmw to least £8gross and up wtc to help those who do work - if they are capable

This tv program is going to show incredibly atypical examples of people on benefits.
It is not going to give you any true or real representation of the benefits systems, the people who claim benefits or what life is like for those who are reliant upon the state.
It is not designed to be informative, it is designed to be shocking and entertaining.
If welfare is a subject that interests you, I really don't think that this is the right place to get your information from.
There are a million programs, books, articles, blogs and websites that would give you a better idea of the reality of the situation.

Well this is going to be a balanced and fair representation of the lives of hundreds of people on benefits isn't it? I'm sure it's not at all going to be shock TV designed specifically to cast people on benefits in a bad light. Totally impartial and factual I bet.

tv never shows anyone in a good light whether those on benefits or those on a hen weekend (was on that thread earlier) and I even said obv wont be shown in good light

but im not a person who bashes people on benefits, those who need them iyswim

But OP don't you see it doesn't matter what YOU think is 'Deserving', the government blithely say their benefit cuts don't affect disabled families so get voter approval. It's lies, of course.

1. Cut in disabled child premium of tax credits
2. 1% increases on income support (carers don't get enough to live on so have to claim)
3. Bedroom tax
4. Council tax benefit

They probably aren't looking for work as they are I would guess virtually unemployable. That is the reality. There are a certain percentage of the long term unemployed who will NEVER work as they simply have to many barriers to employment.

Im on benefits. Im disabled and im also a fulltime carer for a disabled child. i cant go out and earn a wage.

between carers/income support/housing ben/dla i have shit left over after food and bills etc.

These programmes and these people just give an even worse reputation to those of us that NEED it.

What is the point of this program if not to stir resentment and sneer at the poor? If anyone give the slightest toss about actual facts anymore:

UK welfare bill: 42.3% elderly, 20.8% low income, 18.4% families, 15.5% sick/disabled, 2.6% unemployed.

That's right, 2.6% of the welfare budget goes on the unemployed and only a fraction of a percent is "wasted" on illegal claims

Benefit fraud costs around £1.2 bn a year. Tax avoidance cost £25bn.

Where are all the TV shows and relentless headlines vilifying the tax avoiders?

This is just nasty TV influenced by the worse kind of knee-jerk politics.

Omg can't believe that I watched that. I am on income support myself and it made me feel sick.

People like that do give people on benefits a bad name, a very bad name. It disgusted me.

I have 3 kids, im on income support as a single parent, everypenny I get goes on supporting my children and making sure there well looked after. After paying all my household bills (gas, electric etc) I hardly have any money left over never mind getting sky put on in my house. And was it me or has that woman been on Jeremy Kyle quite a few times. is she just desperate for any chance she can get to get on Tele.

I have been looking for work near enough everyday and trying to find the right one to support my kids is difficult, but for her to say she wants £500 left over a week is just taking the mick is she in a dream world.

What tv producer a should be doing is a show for people who are on benefits and physicaly looking for work whilst still trying to do there best to support their families. Just to show the UK that we are all not drunks or scroungers but actually want to better ourselves.

DO NOT LABEL US ALL LIKE THAT SOME OF US ARE GOOD

katy the reason that they don't do that is because they aren't interested in the reality of the situation - it doesn't make good tv.
They are interested in finding the most atypical cases that they can an exploiting them. That's what makes shocking tv and that's what makes them the moat money.
They don't care who they tar with the same brush.
