Anyone been watching Educating Yorkshire?

I'm less impressed with it than Educating Essex, the Head seems much more of a "front man" with ambitions for the school than a good head teacher who understands kids

And that little boy Robbie-Jo is scrumptious, I want to take him home

My ds starts secondary next year and I've found it very interesting to watch - am embarrassed to say that I really don't know how typical it is as a representation of a "normal" secondary school though I know its an academy and have my own views about that!)

any thoughts? sorry if there's been 100 threads and you're all bored with it

Some kids are pretty similar to those in my very average comp. I think most teachers know a Robbie- Joe or two! We certainly have lots of eyebrows the same. We have a smattering of girls like Bailey and Georgia, boys like Tom.

In a mixed, non- selective comp you will encounter a full range. It's how they are taught and managed that differs.

what do you think of the head and other staff in this school purply, from what we see on the programme?

I think the Head seems ok. I think the fact he looks like a bouncer is a bit off putting, but he does seem to feel a genuine passion to help the kids. I find the casual rudeness to teachers a bit depressing, but then I'm an old gimmer of 40 who had to stand when a teacher came in the room. I do think this series has less really memorable characters than "Educating Essex".
