If I love Scandel / Homeland / The West Wing what else should I be watching?

Have only recently got into tv so finally catching up with these amazing US shows on box set!
I found The Sopranos a bit too gory (am super squeamish) so presuming that also rules out ER (?) but does anyone have any other recommendations?
Happy to buy cheap box sets or, even better, record a series on sky.
Many thanks

The Wire, The Thick of It, Breaking Bad. And Twenty Twelve, Gavin and Stacey abd Miranda for lighter relief.

And Sex and the City

Ah yes even I've seen SATC - love that too!
Also heard good things about The Wire / Breaking Bad so will defo try those thanks.
I seem to prefer American drama - not sure if its better writing / acting?

Borgen. It's not from US, but it's the best political drama EVER!!

PoppadomPreach · 22/09/2013 22:02

The Americans. I'm just watching episodes recorded over summer. It's about an "all American couple" who are actually Russians who have been planted by KGB to spy. They are married and have 2 kids and have really blended into American suburbia, but they are still active Russian spies. Slightly slow burner in the beginning, but i absolutely love it!

Agree with Borgen and The Wire. For something a bit different, Treme.

FrancesFarmer · 22/09/2013 22:06

House of Cards on Netflix.

ClayDavis · 22/09/2013 22:20

If you're going for Borgen, do The Killing as well (The original versions not the US ones).

You might need a few episodes to get into The Wire.

The Thick of It and Borgen bought thank you! Have borrowed The Wire and Mad Men from a friend. Hoping to record Breaking Bad on sky. That should keep me going for a little while!

I can wholly recommend strike back. Love it!

If you want something medically but not too gory you could try House, or Grays Anatomy.

The Good Wife?
