I'm watching, it's so sad and no not seen it before but I think it's been on previously.

The squalor is extraordinary Sad

LazyMonkeyButler · 17/09/2013 22:58

I'm watching. I just want to take those little boys home & give them a decent bath Sad.

kilmuir · 17/09/2013 23:00

Don't deserve those boys. Lazy sods

ThreeBeeOneGee · 17/09/2013 23:01

Listening to the parents' stories is sad too.

CatAmongThePigeons · 17/09/2013 23:01

We watched 5 minutes of it, horrible. Sad

MrsMargoLeadbetter · 17/09/2013 23:10

So sad...

kaosak · 17/09/2013 23:13

They will have been brought up like too though so no sense of what is right, this is their normal which is tragic.

LazyMonkeyButler · 17/09/2013 23:15

Sian looks so young, even younger than 14. She looks far too young to be pregnant Sad.

HopeClearwater · 17/09/2013 23:21

Heartbreaking.

WetAugust · 17/09/2013 23:23

Dreadful.

Leaving those 2 boys with that pair of slobs and leaving that young girl to get pregnant.

FFS!

Unlikelyamazonian · 17/09/2013 23:30

What was so dreadful?

I thought SS worked a minor miracle with the families.

They needed a lot of support that's all. Lots of families do.

gymboywalton · 17/09/2013 23:41

i felt desperately sad for the two little boys
the youngest one looked haunted.
the elder one being brave and putting on a good face- 'well we just had a quiet weekend at home' [sob]

HopeClearwater · 17/09/2013 23:53

They should consider a statutory rape charge instead of letting two kids share a bed like that. Might send a message...

EweHaveGoatToBeKiddin · 18/09/2013 00:01

Of course Sian was going to get pregnant.

That's what happens when two people are sleeping together without contraception.

Why is the social worker not intervening with the 16yo having sex with a 14yo? It's illegal, right?

I feel both sorry for and angry with the mum. She's no confidence and seems really run down about everything. But she has no bloody control over her child.

A YEAR out of school.

Allowing a 16yo to sleep with her underage daughter.

All without contraception!

She is a child. She needs to be parented. Not to be a parent.

WetAugust · 18/09/2013 00:15

... and the social worker stands there quite literally watching them in bed together.

Oh, I expect to get flamed - don't worry about that.

There is a law in this country of statutory rape. It isn't enforced because of the 'damage' that it would case to the young people involved. That's what is always trotted out.

Why do we have laws that simply are not enforced - it's ridiculous. Anyone could have predicted that girl would be pregnant - and all the social worker can say is it's "her choice"

No it bloody well isn't. At 14 she cannot consent to sex. the social worker should have identified her as vulnerable and in need of protection. She should have been removed from that situation.

But no one had any control over this child.

So at age 14 she is pregnant.

That's what is dreadful. That's what is depressing.

bananananacoconuts · 18/09/2013 00:25

I recorded it on sky+ and it missed the last minute off. I saw an update on the boys, that they are no longer at risk of being removed from their parents (and for what it's worth i thought they had improved). Was there an update on Sian?

WetAugust · 18/09/2013 00:39

She's back in full-time education. A decision has yet to be made on her baby.

there is NO law in this country (the UK right?) of statutory rape.

YoureBeingADick · 18/09/2013 01:09

what channel was this on BTW?

specialsubject · 18/09/2013 10:37

one of the BBC channels. I take my hat off to the social workers, and also to 7-year-old Brandon. (and his little brother) I really hope his mum and step dad can keep up the good work and not slide back into squalor.

I too am staggered that Sian was not taken to get contraception, and is now allowed to have a baby that she cannot care for, going through pregnancy and child birth at 14. I know abortion cannot be enforced but this is just horrible. What was even worse was the scene where wastrel boyfriend was pawing her and she was trying to resist. I wonder how willing a participant she is in the bed sharing.

Charlottehere · 18/09/2013 10:49

Can't find this on iplayer, anyone know which channel please?

OneStepCloser · 18/09/2013 10:58

I watched this last night, just found it really sad. But unfortunately not uncommon, a lot of families live like this. At the end didnt it say that no decision as yet had been made on Sian and her baby?

OneStepCloser · 18/09/2013 10:59

BBC1 I think Charlotte, if not it would have been BBC3.

kaosak · 18/09/2013 12:25

How could anyone not have been disturbed by it, awful viewing.

You can just imagine exactly how Sian's baby will turn out if she's allowed to keep it Sad. That's the problem isn't it, how on earth do you break that dreadful cycle.
