is anyone watching or is there a thread?

I'm watching it, I've been looking forward to it all day!
The boys come across excellently in my opinion, not stuck up like I expected them to be. The names are so stereotypically 'posh' though - I did smile when Tarquin came on. Grin

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/09/2013 20:21

Which channel is it on?

RalphGnu · 11/09/2013 20:21

Sky1

Dillydollydaydream · 11/09/2013 20:24

Love 'big d's' wonky bow tie :)

RalphGnu · 11/09/2013 20:26

Me too. Can't believe he's not university age yet! So mature.

RalphGnu · 11/09/2013 20:28

Now we have a Fabian. Love it. Grin

bluebump · 11/09/2013 20:29

Good reminder thanks, I'm setting this to record now.

HorsePetal · 11/09/2013 20:33

All so confident, shame about the singing Grin

RalphGnu · 11/09/2013 20:36

I'm dying to know if any MNers have sons there.

disorganisedmummy · 11/09/2013 20:38

The fees are £33,000 a year!! Love the program.

scarlettsmummy2 · 11/09/2013 20:40

I really enjoyed it last week and am currently recording it. I think the boys come across really well, bright, articulate and generally self assured but not cocky.

RalphGnu · 11/09/2013 20:48

Yes, absolutely. They're posh without being arrogant. I've worked out it would only take us a billion years to save uo to send DS there.

chickensaladagain · 11/09/2013 20:53

Oh I can't believe I've missed it

I was meaning to watch it Hmm

derektheladyhamster · 11/09/2013 20:54

you can watch it on sky+1

FrillyMilly · 11/09/2013 20:57

It goes on on demand too. I watched the first episode today. I have really enjoyed it. Just shows teenagers are best kept very busy! Not sure I fully understand this doubles business though. £33000 a year too. How many pupils did it say they have?

RalphGnu · 11/09/2013 21:00

800 pupils Shock. That's a ridiculous amount of money! Doubles are just a fancy form of doing lines, I think.

Davros · 11/09/2013 21:02

It's repeated on Saturday lunchtime i missed it last week and tracked it down. DH's best friend's son went there, he's 20 now and he's really delightful, so kind, friendly to 10 year old DD when they visit.

HangingGardenofBabbysBum · 11/09/2013 21:09

No DCs there, but my DH went. He had a great time, learned to love learning for its own sake and not to be afraid of trying new things. Very cosmopolitan place, in his day they celebrated diversity before it became the cliched bollocks it is today. (His words).

scrummummy · 11/09/2013 21:12

I love watching it. we sat there looking at similar girls schools boarding or not and couldn't think of many like the boys schools you could name. Eton harrow rugby Winchester St Paul's city etc. name the same girls school's?

OP posts:
GibberTheMonkey · 11/09/2013 21:13

It is a lot of money but it does seem to be the going rate for such schools. I think Oundle is just over 31k and greshams just under 30k

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 11/09/2013 21:14

We don't get sky1!

FrillyMilly · 11/09/2013 21:14

That's over £25 million in fees! I'm sure it's a wonderful place to send your son but, not that I could ever afford it, I just couldn't imagine sending my child to board. I really sympathised with the crying sisters in the first episode.

GibberTheMonkey · 11/09/2013 21:15

Roedean, Cheltenham,

scrummummy · 11/09/2013 21:23

but without having to think no girls schools are the same. I'm already paying £15k + for prep. so not thinking money wise £30k+ for boarding seems fine.

I'm really enjoying it too - though I agree the fees are bonkers and I don't really get boarding for most people (can see some cases where it is logistically necessary).
I'm impressed with the housemaster - up and dressed before he wakes them, at every heat of every competition, dealing with injuries...must be damn near 18 hour days. And he seems so nice, and they really respect him. I'm a teacher and I'm a little bit in awe.
