Anyone read the Montalbano books?

I didn't like the series they showed on BEEB FOUR a while ago. Very talky, undramatic and sloooooowwww....I don't know what the books are like though??

The books are great. They're quite short, very funny and my favourite thing about them is that they go into so much detail about food. I love the TV series but the books are much better IMO.

Also quite cheap on kindle!

My father and his sister (who is an Italian professor) both loved the books. I don't know how they translate into English as there's a lot of Sicilian dialect used.
