1/4-Emma and Teegan

Baby psychic Derek Ogilvie says he can fix the most badly behaved children by reading their minds. His bold claim is to be put to the test by terrible toddler, Teegan, whose continuous screaming, violent behaviour and sleepless nights have made her single mum Emma's life a living hell. Can Derek fulfil his promise and psychically transform Teegan into a little angel in just two weeks?

Is this for real?

nicnack2 · 19/06/2006 21:22

i am finding this quite distrubing

beansprout · 19/06/2006 21:22

What is he doing? Our tv has Spain vs Tunisia on......

nicnack2 · 19/06/2006 21:23

through a child who he say he can read her mond he has determind that the childs mother had been raped when 16

beansprout · 19/06/2006 21:25

Eh?! I thought he would be a version of the baby whisperer, not that trickery!! Still, channel five does parenting - what did we expect?!!

nicnack2 · 19/06/2006 21:26

mmmm he seems to read the child mind in order to help with behavior problems. I am slight dubious

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 21:29

Hmmm
"She wants natural foods"

No she needs natural foods.

Shock
melrose · 19/06/2006 21:34

very Sad at this.

nicnack2 · 19/06/2006 22:02

i have found this strange and potential dangerous. if this is for real he could do mor harm the good.

schneebly · 19/06/2006 22:05

I thought that too - very Shock at they way he just brought up the girls rape. I guess it makes good TV. Sad Don't think I will watch it again.

vitomum · 19/06/2006 22:05

wow that was weird. they did seem a lot happeier at the end though

nicnack2 · 19/06/2006 22:07

mind you i have also with it done with horses. someone could mind melt with horses. Just as dubious as i am with all mindreaders.

lusciouslynda · 19/06/2006 22:32

Do you need to be a mind reader to know that toddlers need natural food, like bouncing on beds and trampolines and love dressing up? oh, and prefer happy, calm parents?

This was just disturbing. Especially the bit where she didnt know what to do with a carrot!

Send Supernanny in there!

YellowFeathers · 19/06/2006 22:34

It was the constant swearing and anger that struck me. She always seemed on edge. Like when the little girl peed on the floor, why then watch her go in twice and slip on it?

Beetle73 · 20/06/2006 09:34

I thought this was a really irresponsible programme. Why make out that struggling teenage parents need mind-readers to sort themselves out? It was so clear that all Emma and Teegan needed was a fresh, calm start and lots of cuddles. Besides rape etc., everything else he said was just plain common sense and plainly obvious without reading the child's mind:
She's hyper and won't sleep - give her less sugar
She lives on the 11th floor with no garden - get her a trampoline to burn some energy
Mother looks stressed and knackered, needs a break - get the grandmother involved a bit more.
I felt so sorry for these two children and it's just awful that girls like Emma appear just to be packed off at 16 to raise a child without apparently getting any support at all. Their problem was actually so easily fixed, and could have been fixed by any number of mothers on this site. Yet she so nearly had a breakdown/gave Teegan up etc. This story had a happy ending, but it still left me feeling rather sad.
