Anyone watching The Imposter?

I saw this at the pictures and still find it so bizarre now.

Very disturbing - didn't realise it was going to get so complex! Never heard of it before now.

I saw this at the pictures, too and it was/is a very strange story.
It had more impact in the cinema, fewer distractions.
You couldnt make it up, could you ?

Really strange..can't help but feel sorry for the guy / imposter.

I know. I don't feel sorry for him because of how many times he's done it before. I did feel sorry for the sister though I think she was genuinely caught up in wanting it to be true.

Watching it now, its beggars belief , obviously some v. guillible people being taken advantage of, how did his family not notice his huge brown eyes?.

At the beginning I felt sorry because he would obviously have done anything to be loved and belong to a loving family, but when he realised the implications and the emotional impact on the people he deceived he carried on.
I have no sympathy now.

I think that the sister just didn't want to see it but I'm sure some of the others knew what really happened to Nicholas and were scared to draw attention to themselves. Look at the mum's body language when she was 'reubited' with Nicholas, something was definately off. I think that it didn't help that none of his family seemed very bright.

I agree that I felt sorry for him in the beginning when he told the story of his upbringing but by the end I couldn't trust anything he said. He was a textbook unreliable narrator. Weirdly thought he was still likeable.

I was shocked a 13 yr old, had so many tattoo's .

I became convinced that they must have known it wasn't Nicholas but as they had murdered Nicholas they were happy for the imposter to have appeared.

It is a very bizarre story. He was weird.

An odd story indeed, considering american sercurity etc. There seemed to be so many gaps or something in terms of repatriating him.

i know I thought surely the FBI aren't that stupid, if an old man using ear csi was all it took!!!.

Couldn't watch to the end as our power cut out... They MURDERER the little boy!? Why on earth?

Sorry Octopus, it was late last night! I meant that I came away from it feeling so confused still about what had gone on.

There was a BBC documentary a few years ago called madness on the motorway that left me with a similar feeling. That was also very interesting though and I think it's a available on YouTube.

That was phenonmenal though, left feeling conned by the film itself especially when it revealed that the spanish bloke targets families of missing children.
And the brother Jason, saying Nicholas had tried to break into the house moths after going missing, I'm like ...he's been missing, wouldn't you just let him in???

I think the imposter was interesting as evn though it was a documentary based on facts it used a lot of cinematic techniques, especially the 'twist' ending. Though the first time I saw it it really made me question why I'd been so keen to believe someone who you already knew was a liar.

Yeah, it was amazimg a lot of cinema type imagery shots too,
even the bit about his mum, she didn't look 17 on that picture did she??.

So many questions. FBI lady tells sister the guy is potentially dangerous, but then let's him go home from the airport with her because the sister is happy to see him?

And the lie detector test - mum passed first two times, failed the third. Did the questions get more direct or what? How is it possible to do so well then so badly?
