Thanks Grin

Such a grim life- the kind of place that brutalises everybody, and where men won't touch green food. That bit was a welcome moment of humour.

Hashtagwhatever · 15/07/2013 22:43

I'm watching

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 15/07/2013 22:46

Imagine having a son with such appalling taste in facial hair

BOF · 15/07/2013 22:51

It is very hard, watching this, not to conclude that men are pigs.

Hashtagwhatever · 15/07/2013 22:52

Never mind the facial hair, those teeth...

ChaosTrulyReigns · 15/07/2013 23:03

Very very uncomfortable watching.

But I suppose it touches on the age old question on how far you'd go for your DC.

Sad

Olivia Colman is so, so good in everything she does.

qazxc · 16/07/2013 09:02

Olivia coleman is brilliant!
It was very uncomfortable viewing though. I was a bit Shock at the domestic violence and how it appears to be so normalised, no reaction from the mum or the brother (or the guy they beat to death) when the girlfriend is getting attacked.
I almost had a giggle when of all the things her sons do, olivia coleman's character seems to snap when one of her sons eats an apple, clearly in Run consuming fruit is the definate sign of evil/ breaking point. (never mind the feckless sponging off mum, the disrespect, the drug taking, the beating up girlfriends, the beating up a man to death,........ No the apple eating is what does it).

dirtyface · 16/07/2013 09:39

oh i watched this

was so so good, olivia coleman is a brilliant actress

looking forward to tonights episode as i want to know what the story is with the girl who was buying all the stolen mobile phones Confused

Onesleeptillwembley · 16/07/2013 13:24

Love Olivia, but thought a lot of this was lazy stereotyping. OTT.

mumofthemonsters808 · 16/07/2013 13:48

I like Olivia also, but I don't think this role suited her, her accent was hit and miss. Agree about the stereotyping, typical middle class TV producer portraying life on a London Council as brutal. I've seen this type of story before (mother defending thug sons at any cost) but I'm going to stay with it and see if tonight's story is better.

cocolepew · 16/07/2013 22:56

Well that was depressing.

BOF · 16/07/2013 22:59

I'm not going to watch it again- far too depressing and brutal.

cocolepew · 16/07/2013 23:42

Don't think I will either. It's not going to to get any more cheerful.

Graceparkhill · 17/07/2013 00:13

There were scenes in this episode that I couldn't watch and 10 mins before the end I went to the kitchen having told DH that if there was a happy ending I would watch it on 4OD.
It was too graphic and grim for me but I did think the acting was excellent.

dirtyface · 17/07/2013 08:06

that episode last night was horrible

i just didn't get it at all TBH :(
