Will contain spoilers, so don't read unless you have!

A thread for those of us who are too impatient to wait a whole week for new episodes to share our theories without ruining it for more sensible people.

Thanks garlic. Gah! I couldn't stop myself and now I know stuff I can't say on the C4 pace thread but I don't want to watch ahead to be able to join this thread.

See you in a few weeks!

I take your point about Thomas, Anon! I'd been putting him down as perhaps a bit thick, but he's really selfish & entitled, isn't he? I shall take myself off to a Red Flags thread this minute Blush

I've just thought ... Why would Julie go with Victor/Louis when the horde showed up, as presumably his mother was among them? Will this introduce another level of rivalry between the (arguably) living and the dead??

I don't think Julie even thought that far. She saw evil Grin Thomas about to grab a young boy and send him off alone in the dark and she jumped in.
After Victor told her she was his good fairy I think they developed a strong bond. She wants to protect him and look out for him- and maybe like he told her she feels she has to take him to his mother to fulfill her role.

Well, after reading all the stuff from the French website, I have new theories and ideas, and a couple of things have cleared up.

I now think Camille resurrcted because the dam water got inside her coffin. I think all the others came into contact with dam water too. This is why they have all returned at the same time, the time that the dam started leaking the water. Serge's diary definitely backs this up for me, as does the policemans letter to Lucy.

I agree now Mrs Costa didnt starve, she seems to have died a year after the first flood, unless it happened at Christmas/New Year time (which it didnt appear to).

I think the house Victor was in when he was shot was not his home. He was wearing the same clothes as he was wearing after the flood, so maybe he was taken in by a family whose house was not flooded. Would explain maybe his nightmares and the fact the woman was caring towards him but didnt appear to be his mother.

The leter to Lucy was a bit weird - the policeman didnt seem that odd in the show! He is a tad obsessed. His stories about his Grandad are very interesting!

Very spooky that she saw a faceless young boy as she was attacked by Setge - Victor? Does he appear all those who die? He wa sthere when Camille's bus crashed ....

Weird how neither Village is ever named? Not on the website or on the show. Just refered to as Village with a capital letter.

This bit intrigues me muchly - "A group is missing though- they were by the lake when the dam broke. 'as if on a pilgrimage' we are told.
There is so sign of them- everything has been swept away. Buildings, trees, cattle, even the train tracks have been torn away. We ask about the disappeared.
'A bunch of eccentrics. They followed a man who promised them a better life' says an old lady.
A shepherd who lost his flock is a bit more aggressive.
'They brought pain to the Village. They were talking about purifying the earth, they said a flood would come and wash away people's sins! If you want my opinion, they were praying for such an event. I hope they haven't survived. Good riddance!'" who were they? I am willing to bet everything they survived! Was Pierre amoung them? He is described as an evangilist born-again Christian.

Who is the He Serge is talking about? AT first I thought God, but he says he has a temper and he is scred, so I think its a living person.

The policemans letter also talks about a forest fire before the last flood that made the animals commiit suicide in the lake ... and we saw that happen in this new Village too ... He also confirms that he was cut up about Adele about to marry Siomn, so he was in the picture back then!

Ok, think I have waffled too much Grin

I think the website emphasises Thomas' craziness a lot more. Lucy's letter mentions the madness in his eyes, his devastation on the day Adele was due to marry Simon etc
I wouldn't be surprised if he has somehow killed Simon and worked out a suicide scenario in case Adele asked too many questions. I don't know if it will be addressed because Simon is now turned nutter and Adele has clearly gone off him big time.

I LOVE the theory of the water resurrecting Camille. Why didn't it resurrect the suicidal goats though? Unless it takes a while for it to work (the letter mentions a cocoon- implying a transformation time). It could be why the wolf resurrected out of nowhere in Serge's farm.

The cult leader definitely sounds like Pierre. Maybe he returned a while ago which is why he seems so in tune with the new returned.

I think it was Victor's mother btw. What makes you think otherwise?

Going back to the letter there was something rather odd. Alcide is annoyed at the thought of having to sit by Lucy's bedside- but then reveals he was stalking her and wants her to belong to him? Surely he should have been delighted at the assignment?

Definitely weird that they talk about the Village. It looks v unusual and deliberate in the newspaper article.
Alcide's letter talks about the Town. Very odd.

I wasnt convinced it was Victors mother for a few reasons, neither boy adress her as Mum or Mother, even when saying goodnight. She seemes caring but not motherly towards him, if that makes sense? I will have to watch it again to be sure though, I may be way off the mark.

But doesn't see tell him the story about the fairy who will protect him? When he tells Julie she's his good fairy I seem to remember he refers to something his mother has told him.

Yes, I remember the memory scene where Victor/Louis's mother tells him about the fairy. Why would she not be his mother? She clearly knew him very well, going by the chat about his nightmares.

I'm very confused...all those questions up there ^ but also,

Why did Camille say, you called me Camille, but you can see I am not her - does that mean they're not the people they seem to be or just that they're some sort of copy or what?

Do they want Adele because she's pregnant, or is she actually one of them from a successful suicide attempt?

Why is the helping hand so big for such a small town and set up with things like electric shutters? I assumed that the arsenal was a recent addition, but has Pierre been preparing for this for a long time?

And a bit randomly, why on earth is it called the lake pub? Why isn't it called something French?

I feel like I don't really know anything more than I did after the first episode, I mean I like the mystery and the slow reveal, but I watched a whole series and could pretty much sum it up with - Some dead people came back, it's looking likely that it's something to do with the lake and the dam bursting years ago... I wouldn't mind knowing a wee bit more about what on earth's going on, lol
