This is one that I'm not keen on. Shame really I love Miss Marple - she's my fave and I was settling done with a glass of wine to watch. DH and DS out, so can't moan Smile

Id it a new one? The Joan Hickson one was fab. I think it's one of the scariest books.

DorisShutt · 16/06/2013 20:19

The major isn't majorly enough - lovely guy but not right for the part.

Love Hermione Norris though!

PenelopePortrait · 16/06/2013 20:36

Yes Hermonie is fab isn't she. The major was def too nice, more like a vicar (think that guy must've played a vicar in something).

Yes I think Joan Hickson did do this one, doesn't seem very long ago?

Julie Mckenzie is growing into the role, she's beginning to look like her.

Joan Hickson WAS Miss Marple.

I'm not keen on this new thing of mucking about with the endings either.

GeorginaWorsley · 16/06/2013 21:00

What have I seen the Canon in recently?
Some period drama or other I think...

marjproops · 16/06/2013 21:05

unless theyve changed the ending, I know who did it!! it was made into a film once.

Alan Carr made me laugh tho, he said once that Princess Price/Reid/whoever Grin-Andre looks like Julia Makenzie!!! she really does!

Mrsfluff · 16/06/2013 21:14

Is the Vicar the chap from the recent BT adverts, or am I quite mad?

GeorginaWorsley · 16/06/2013 21:58

Oh yes,of course

stickortwist · 16/06/2013 22:00

Does amyone know what the latin bit was ?

craigslittleangel · 16/06/2013 22:42

The cannon is in the BT adverts. Think longer hair more ginger.... He is the nerd.

And second, does anyone know what the latin bit was?

PseudoBadger · 16/06/2013 22:44

I quite enjoyed it :)

ARealDame · 16/06/2013 22:49

This has all been done before, almost exactly the same, just with different actors. I wondered why it all looked so familiar and I knew who was going to be killed first! What a waste of time.

Clawdy · 17/06/2013 09:23

The Latin bit was "Hail Caesar...We who are about to die salute you". Mr Rafiel is dying and knows they won't meet again. Sad But in "Nemesis",a later book, Miss M. receives a letter from him after his death, which sparks off a whole new mystery....

arabesque · 17/06/2013 11:08

I hate the way they mess around with the original Christie stories. I didn't think this version was nearly as good as the Joan Hickson one (which remained true to the book) and was overall a bit messy and confusing.
Although at least, for a change, they weren't trying to shoehorn Miss Marple into a story that she never originally featured in.
I really don't like Julia McKenzie in the role either. She's too young and agile and just looks like a middle aged woman in frumpy clothes, not like a sweet old fashioned elderly lady.

ladymalfoy · 17/06/2013 19:53

It's gone from itvplayer! Started to watch it last night and it's vanished today.

Ashoething · 17/06/2013 21:34

It was crap.Noone will ever surpass Joan Hickson as Miss Marple.I prefer Nemisis which also features Jason Rafiel. The hail caeser bit made me cry when I first read it.
